Grumpy Soul is back! on

Event Information

People kept asking so, after a few months trawling around, we're delighted to have found another venue for Grumpy Soul ( special thanks to Steve Thomas

 Maclean's Bar

Chemistry Lane

Deeside

CH5 2DA

The new gaff is about 10 miles further along the M56 than the Runcorn club but - trust me, we've been twice - it takes no longer to get to than the old place. It's also an absolute doddle to find and literally two minutes of the motorway. The room is roughly the same size as the old one with a decent stage and a good sized dance floor (no talc folks. It'll be polished so no need). It'll also be pitch black (Len ). Add in good parking, an ideal space for record sales, covered smoking area, sensible bar prices, easy access and it's a no brainer really.

Same format as before:

Times:  8pm - 3am (bar until 2am)

DJs: Residents Carl Fortnum and Dave Welding, supported by Joan and myself

Special guest: Andy Dyson

Expect to hear anything and everything from late Wigan through Shotts, Stafford and beyond - Yer Don Gardner, one off acetates or a fiver's worth, we don't give a sh*t!

£6.00 still gets you in

We've booked  two dates for now (June and September) and will sort one, maybe two more for later in the year if those go according to plan. Flyers and guests are being sorted as we speak and we hope to get out and about with those in the coming weeks.

Hope to see all the old faces first week in June then, plus a few new ones too of course

This is good news. I only went once to the Runcorn venue, for Joan's birthday. Travelled up with Billywhiz. Depending on dates will do my best to get to the new venue. The night I attended I thought it was a "proper Northern Soul" night, good mix of tunes, not too many of the same old.

Carl sounded like Matt Monro before and his George Lemons was a dramatic improvement on the original, obviously.

My spine tingles with anticipation at the prospect of his rendition of 'pyramid' through those two whopping new amps. You've just gotta invest in that kinda talent.
