  1. I,m still coming to terms with modern soul which by definition owt after the mid 70s.
  2. Thought the 80/90s was bad for soul music with all the drum machines synths etc, some great songs still been written but the production with the dirth of real musicians on most of records (thankfully some small independent labels still making records of the real deal) overwhelming and devoid of soul barring the vocalists. So imagine listening to a album of Al stuff, even the vocalists will be synthetic.
  3. What is the point cloning someones voice , all it is is a imitation. And that example think al needs to write some lyrics not nursery rhymes and for some reason the melody reminds me of Mickeys Monkey. All this technical sh*t is going to bite us on the ass someday.
  4. Seems to me because Amy is a nurse specialising in the subject and also a Northern Soul fan,she is trying to join the dots between the two when there isn't one , as other people have stated most activities with fanatics could also attract people of the spectrum but it does not mean that is the reason for the attraction, just that like everyone else there was an initial starting place that led us in to the activity with the spectrum or without, Northern Soul usually the youth club, friends or older siblings with a love of the music
  5. If you go down rabbit holes you could meet a ferret
  6. What next medics walking round venues with clipboards observing the punters at play
  7. Enough documentation for me to come to the conclusion that Chris Jackson is not Van Mccoy or Chris Bartley, as for the statement one of the Tymes did not know who Jackson was why would he ? he only wrote their hit.
  8. That's 30 seconds of my life I will not get back.
  9. Totally agree but looking at a lot of posts above he apparently does not exist and was just a pseudonym for Van McCoy or Chis Bartley. And also suggested in a previous topic Jerry Williams on the B side , maybe all this will be put to bed now. Or is there another twist
  10. Chris Jackson sounds like a real person going by those articles unless someone knows better.
  11. There were people on here a few years ago saying that Jerry Williams was the vocalist on "Forever I,ll Stay With You"
  12. Starr also used the drum beat from " What'd I Say ".
  13. Lennon said the riff was inspired by " Watch Your Step " and they used to play the song in early concerts.
  14. Morning Mr Woodbutcher glad to see you are now in a happy place you always seemed to be ss Mr Angry Happy Easter . Sad that it is 40 years on Monday since Marvin's death.
  15. I would imagine most of these recordings are nothing more than a few jams and Marvin singing a few lines/chorus to new songs he was trying out which were not complete, be nice if something can be done with them to make them available though.
  16. Bought loads of records of him as you said a great dealer, with some good priced 45s and Lps his lists were well antipated by me. John Doe Music was his mail order business I think ?.
  17. Charly also put out one called "Up All Night" which was excellent, still available on CD but seems illusive on cassette.
  18. Read the article and all Dave said was someone had taken him to task about calling people "pillheads" in one of his columns which said hurt him because he said he would never call any human as such and never wrote it.He never once broached the subject of drugs in this article apart from the pill head reference, true he was not always right , I bought a copy " Love And Affection" Joan Armatrading after a great review in his column by himself, defo wrong on that pile of sh#t.
  19. Who was trolling who I do not do facebook so not seen any but with your post it obviously happens.
  20. Think he would be mortified, all the columns he wrote that I read his dislike of any plagiarism of black music was clear. So I think he would take the same stance as most on here have. As for spreading the faith Godin took great delight in black artists getting recognition and money in their pockets, he had no problems with reissues and positively endorsed them.
  21. Cheers Mark I will have a download of that, thanks
  22. Not worth that with the felt tip outline on the logo , hope he gets stuck with it.
  23. Looks like felt tip to me, looks like the other side has had the same treatment but made a f**k of that side and did better the second time on the other side. My eyes are not what they were though.
