SOLD OUT!!!!!!!! Thanks to everyone who bought passes, see you in May. Family Circle welcomes you to Stockholm for a weekend of rare, not-so-rare and just plain good soul music from the 60s, 70s and 80s with a sprinkling of the best current releases. DJ LINE-UP: Arthur Fenn (UK) Thorsten Wegner (GER) Akro (US) Ambitious Outsider (US) Simone Schneider (GER) Tony Doyle (IRL) Andreas Dienel (SWE) Lisa Wolverson (IRL) Steve Jay (UK) Henrik Åkerberg (SWE) Martin Haddock (UK) Rob Kay (UK) Ms Phyllis (GER) Liam Flanders (UK) David Hill (UK) and residents: Jens Chreisti (SWE) Carl Hedberg (SWE) Pete Shirley (UK/SWE) Here is a mix to give you an idea of the type of sounds you might hear, starting off slowly and gradually moving up to night-time stuff: https://www.mixcloud.com/CarlHedberg/slice-of-heaven/ Dates: May 24-26 at Hammarby Rodd, the same rowing club we used for the 2023 event - a small, intimate venue right by the water. Nice sound system, cheap bar and a lovely outdoor area to chill out in if the weather is what we hope it will be. Also a warm-up party on Thursday the 23rd at the Riche Fenix bar (Götgatan 40, not far from main venue). A weekender pass for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is 500 SEK. Any questions about hotels, transport etc, just get in touch with me on here or ask co-promoter Jens Chreisti on Facebook. The Stockholm Soul Weekender Facebook group is here: https://sv-se.facebook.com/groups/530921883625901/ Thanks for looking, Carl

The task which I usually struggle with has been compounded by two after parties and the resultant record bombs which has certainly added to the challenge! Anywhere, here goes. If anything is missed let me know but this is as good as my recall gets! Thanks to all the DJs who created a unique vibe in an amazingly tranquil location given the energy that was generated all weekend, some of the best sets ever at SSW which flowed from start to finish. Thanks especially to our extended Family circle, to the travellers, the revelers, the entertainers, the dedicated stragglers, you know who you are that contributed to possibly the best Stockholm Weekender ever! We had visitors from Italy, Spain, Finland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, England, Scotland and Ireland to make it a truly international Soul Party! We hope to see you all next year! Peace xx As with any evening set driven by a collective vibe and the dancefloor reaction my planned Modern bias went out of the window and into the water! 3. Less than 3 months to go! Much like the Stockholm weekender, this mix is quite varied in sound and tempo, starting off with a couple of 60s bits, moving up to 80s modern soul before crashing out with a few no-prisoners uptempo numbers. Hope you enjoy listening. /Carl
  4. Good topic! Here is my attempt at a top 20. These are what I consider truly solid albums, not just one or two killer tracks. GSH - Pieces of a man Three Pieces - Vibes of truth Ultimates - You’re my lady Sam Dees - The show must go on Lovelites - With love from Family Circle - S/T O’Jays - Back stabbers Lou Courtney - I’m in need of love Curtis Mayfield - Superfly Impressions - The young mods’ forgotten story Leroy Hutson - Hutson Ann Peebles - I can’t stand the rain Sandra Wright - Wounded woman Teddy Pendergrass - S/T Garland Green - Jealous kind of fella Marvin Gaye - Let’s get it on Joe Bataan - Singin’ some soul Bobby Thurston - Sweetest piece of the pie Ann Sexton - The beginning Darrell Banks - Darrell Banks is here
  5. Look forward to it, Kev
  6. What a group, quite mindblowing to think of the number of absolute monsters in their output.
  7. Nowhere near 50 quid in recent times, I’m afraid. Two good sides appealing to different parts of the scene. That price is very high, though.
  8. Glad to hear, Alex. Another excellent release, looking forward to receiving mine. /Carl

Family Circle proudly presents: Stockholm Soul Weekender 2023 Three days of rare, not-so-rare and just plain good soul music from the 60s, 70s and 80s with a sprinkling of the best current releases. Dates: June 2-3-4 2023 Venue: Hammarby Rodd, Sundstabacken 12 (the boat club venue we used for Sunday the last time around). A few minutes from tube station Gullmarsplan, just south of the city. A weekender pass is 500 SEK, payment (preferably as friends and family) to my Paypal address chedberg@hotmail.com The venue is quite small, and we won’t be able to accomodate as many people as last time, so if you’d like to attend it might be best not to leave booking until the last minute. Any questions about hotels, transport etc, just get in touch with me on here or ask co-promoter Jens Chreisti on Facebook. https://sv-se.facebook.com/groups/530921883625901/ Thanks for looking, Carl DJ line-up: Arthur Fenn (UK) Lisa Wolverson (IRL) Carib Soul (UK) Samuel Hugosson (SWE) Calvin ”Doc” Brown (UK) Adela Dominguez (SPA) Martin Haddock (UK) Richard Free (UK) Karl Marthon (SWE) Valentina Savio (ITA) Alex Johnson (UK) Liam Flanders (UK) Lillis Hansson (SWE) Jez Bishop (UK) Jan Hjalmarsson (SWE) Resident DJs: Jens Chreisti (SWE) Carl Hedberg (SWE) Pete Shirley (UK/SWE)
  10. Thanks Dave, Brian and co, was a fab day. Hats off for the first 14 years, hope there will be many more to come. /Carl
  11. Agree 100%. As much as I enjoy DJing, buying a record that I wouldn’t want to hear at home makes no sense. Enough records out there — of all kinds of tempos — that sound fantastic both at home and out.
  12. There’s been a couple of copies up for sale in the last few years, but definitely a tough find.
