A warm welcome back to our first event of 2024. We continue where we left off giving you great soul music in a cool venue and a terrific atmosphere to boot. Dave, Steve and Jorge provide an optimal mix of rare and classic Northern Soul, Motown greats, rockin’ R&B movers with a sprinkling of 70s, jazz & boogaloo as the mood takes us.

Hip City Classic Soul returns the the Artbank at Shepton Mallet. Check out this friendly and atmospheric venue with regular DJs Dave Smith, Steve Riley and Jorge Lewis serving up a veritable feast of Northern Soul, R&B, Motown and classic soul. The Hip City Classic Soul crew are on the road again! Following the success of last year's event in Wells, Dave Smith, Steve Riley and Jorge Lewis return with their enticing mix of Northern Soul, R&B, Latin, Motown and some classic 70s/80s cuts to get the dancefloor heaving at the Tramways club. No experience necessary to enjoy dancing to some of the greatest dance records of the era. Music from 7.30 pm until midnight, admission is free for Tramways members, £3 for non-members (£5 if you come as a pair!).

Becoming a well-established night in the West Country, Steve Riley, Dave Smith and Jorge Lewis spin Northern Soul oldies and rarities, R&B, and Motown mixed in with some lovely classic 60s and 70s classic soul sides. Dave Smith, Steve Riley and Jorge Lewis dig deep into the their boxes to bring you 5 hours of Motown classic cuts and rare dancers. There are more records from Motown played on the Northern Soul scene than any other label - the histories of Motown and Northern Soul are closely intertwined. We’ll be celebrating the royal occasion by spinning the records that made Motown’s name and the ones that the Northern Soul scene rescued from obscurity and made famous - hundreds of irresistible soul dancers by legendary artists including Marvin Gaye, Temptations, Kim Weston, Four Tops, Miracles, Edwin Starr, Frank Wilson, Supremes, Gladys Knight, Martha Reeves, Jimmy Ruffin, Mary Wells, Marvelettes, Velvelettes and many many more. Come on down to Artbank, Shepton Mallet and give yourself a right royal treat - 5 hours of the most glorious, uplifting music ever made! Door tax £3 or two for £5 (tickets advisable).
