"Just Like That " - Hip Cat Express Christmas Knees Up - is back on Bank Holiday Monday 27th December -The Comps . Wow ! How all of our worlds have changed since our last Christmas outing at The Comps . We've lost loved ones our whole lives have literally been turned upside down , spun around a few times and kicked out of the park . Hip Cat wanted to bring back our Christmas Knees Up as some form of return to tradition and a chance to see your lovely warm smiley faces with love in your hearts . Rushden's very own booster jab . Yep - there's a sparkly new shopping centre down the road but we wanted to support our local - which lets face it has had a torrid time of late . So it's 27th December - The Compasses Rushden - 7pm till late . Come and enjoy our brand of merriment and Christmas joy aboard the Express . The boys are back in town for a Sing-A-Long Christmas Knees Up . We'll be playing loads of lovely vinyl - Everyone welcome come join us for laughter - cheap-ish beer - awesome bar staff and just a cuddly atmosphere . Great to see ya there . At bloody last ! - We'll be playing some Sunday afternoon Soul (Ska of course ) at Gina's new bar (Ade's too) - Football Club Hayden Road Rushden - 2pm till 7pm - It's just ahead of the Euro's final so once we've finished you can settle down and watch the final on the big screen . I'm not gonna jinx it but imagine if we were .... dreams can come true you know . The beers dirt cheep - the owners are lovely and they've done a cracking job doing the place up - and hopefully we'll be doing a few more of these too . Without doubt we'd love to see you there - its been a somewhat challenging time - lets get together - listen to some decent tunes and have the odd hug or too. Can't wait . "The Disciples Of Soul" are back by popular demand . We as a self proclaimed collective of Soul Djs have the absolute honour of playing The George on 15th September . We have the mighty Steve Brown - the awesome Gibby and of course Hip Cat Express on the menu that night . We will be spinning a whole roster of beautiful music from all our back catalogues of vinyl tunes - it will be a celebration of beautiful SOUL music . All this for no cost on the door . We know - you can't believe your eyes ! At last Rushden goes up market with a fabulous Gin Festival . There'll be the usual array of cheap beer but also an all embracing mix of different Gins for your delight . Regulars know there is a fantastic garden where you can chill and listen to an eclectic mix of vinyl tunes provided by the effervescent Hip Cat Express and on board will be our honorary member -Mr Kicks himself -all the way from Stoney Stratford -Richard Long . Back in 1979 - the mods from Kettering rode their scooters over to Rushden Fair and it all kicked off with Rushden heavies . All throughout the late 70's and 80's Kettering had a massive place in local mod hearts and one of the now iconic gathering places was The Wayfarer pub Kettering - just up by Wickstead park . Of course loads of water has passed under bridges we are all older uglier and well basically never grew out of music and those youth cultures . It is with immense pride we announce we are to spin some tunes at the Wayfarer . You'll get the usual blend of up beat up lifting soul , knee bending ska , 60s r n b , mod revival , lovers rock and well just some top top tunes . With Hip Cat it can only be a good groove . They're dancin' on the ceilin' They're dancing' on the floor People everywhere comin' through the door They know there's a party goin' on Do the dancin' romance all night long All you gotta do is move Every time you feel that groove Ain't nothing' but a party Love to see you there . HIP CAT EXPRESS ROOM We again roll the Express into Wellingborough , destination The Castle . In amongst all the elite northern soul played that weekend will once again be The Hip Cat Express Club Night featuring pinches of mod stax boogaloo hammond reggae soul and a massive offering of Ska . The walls will once again be sweating . This is always a sell out and we have tickets available now for £10 a piece for the Saturday message us with what you require .We will be playing Friday 19th 8pm till Modnight Saturday 20th 4pm till Modnight .
