    Hi I'm Stuart from Sheffield.   We are all here for music, trying not to get involved with Soul clicks or poletics, but it's hard not to   I am a DJ working on the pub scene doing Karaoke and oldies. I absolutley love retro music, it has something to offer that modern stuff just doesn't quit have. Yes, original black RnB has that fire that no other music has. Its a shame Black American's lost the art of singing in the lat 70's when their music got more agressive with hip hop and rap which hit the UK in the 80s.   The early soul tracks of the 60s and 70's are just amazing. The musicianship and vocalisum are just out of this world.   DJ Micky Clements has showed me the true path of soul (but the vinyl's too heavy to carry).   I'm not bothered what format the music is played on, as long as it sounds good to be amplified publicly. Yes, I do appreciate why you soulies love it on vinyl. Tried myself for a short while until I quickly realised the space required for storing vinyl. What I had collected in my vinyl (mid life crisis) was donated to DJ Mick Clements who I've joined forces with to bring you S6 Soul Club.   S6 Soul Club is purely an experement at the moment. Initially I did comment that Rotherham was full of Soul events but Sheffield was wasn't. Wrong there's loads of once a monthers all over the place. Its a little hard to get a good venue such as Hillsborough Club which is primarly used for functions and get a night available that doesn't clash with other soul gigs.   Big thanks to Mick and Alyn the guest DJ's at S6 on 29/03/13. Also to the couple who travelled many miles to check out our gig. Thanks for the positive feedback you gave all the DJ's. (look forward to adding you on Soul Source) Not forgetting Frank, the owner of Hillsborough Club for letting us have the room on favourable terms. Last of all,  thanks to all the customers that turned up and enjoyed the night.

    Northern Soul After Party - Yorkshire Grey 29/07/2023 into Sunday Morning till 01.00am 16 Hall Gate, Doncaster DN1 3NA DJ Stu here, the resident DJ at the Yorkshire Grey. I've been asked by soulies who attend other venues on Hall Gate if I can make the last set after our karaoke night a Northern Soul and Motown hour. Why not come in slightly earlier and give the karaoke a go with some of your favourite Motown numbers? The bar has a late license and is prepared to stay open until 1am to keep you dancing. We are a Craft Union venue who are competitive on drink price in comparison to other local venues. Get your dancing shoes on and spend your last hour of Saturday/Sunday night dancing with us.

Please come along, with your dancing shoes on and enjoy the music. We kick off at 7.30pm and carry on till late Free Entry The music policy is some what relaxed as we shall be playing Northern Soul, Motown and Disco so there should be something for everyone to enjoy. There's no soul snobbery at our gigs, this is not a vinyl event and it's free entry. Please feel free to ask for requests within the music policy. If we have it and it makes you and your friends dance, we will endeavour to play your track.     got the vinyl bug for a short while, bout the twin decks and mixer. Obtained a few peoples vinyl collections and sorted out the soul from the rubbish. Then realised how much space everything took up. As much as I love the sound of vinyl, it's not practical to store so most of it went to my S6 Soul Club pal Mick Clements. I've now started my soul education on CD's, can't keep off ebay at the mo.
