After Roger had left Call On Me was played of the album which a guy called Mafia Dave brought in later I obtained a Duke 45 copy.Not sure what your obsession is with Call On Me. Many Bobby Bland tracks were popular at the Wheel Good Time Charlie, Back In The Same Old Bag, Shoes and With These hands all of which were still played in 1969 and 1970. Tracks such as Turn On Your Lovelight, Yield not To Temptation and Aint nothing You Can Do that were popular n the early days but didn't tend to get played after 66.

A lot of people have only got into NS in their Middle Ages or even older and probably wouldn't have touched it when they were teenagers because it was probably too edgy or they preferred other music.It suits them now because they have started going out again and it looks like the best option open to them and probably some friends have told them they will love it. It's readily available with events everywhere a lot attached to Motown nights and maybe they've heard stuff on the radio or wherever that has lured them in. Warner and other events will appeal to these types I suppose so yes they are going to try and cash in. It's the same with rave and indie music although less so at the moment underground stuff eventually gets more sanitised and filters through to a wider audience .

Roger Eagle was a massive Bobby Bland fan and had an arrangement with the Duke records stable Peacock Sureshot to receive their releases direct from the US to The Wheel.Yield Not To Temptation Ain't Nothing You Can Do and Call On Me were played at the Brazenhose Street Wheel ( I was told)Good Time Charlie With These Hands Call On Me Shoes and. Back In The Same Old bag were played at The New Wheel. Roger and Guy Stevens imported many records from the US from 64 onwards as did others.

Brilliant tune from a great artists a lot more soulful than a lot of NS stuff. it’s been played out for years especially by Mr Cato at Different Strokes.

There's not a lot of soul in many NS records instrumental or vocal but instrumentals such as Hole In The Wall ,Spooners Crowd mid 60's Stax type stuff plus many lesser known releases contained a lot of soul.
