Hi all if i were to sell up what is the best way of getting the best prices. Is it worth paying commission for john manship to sell the rarer stuff as he often gets the highest prices. Ive not sold on ebay before so  do you get a reasonable price after sellers fees???

:hatsoff2:HI ALL Getting a valuation for your collection is integral, then you can make a decision on how you sell them, selling them in small lists is best, however don't sell all your top records (value wise) as you will be stuck with many records with no demand,

Dealers expect to pay at best 50% of the collections value, and quite often they will cherry pick, As we can recommend some good dealers who you can approach John Manship, Pete Smith & Mick Smith are trusted, however there are many more, KTF

Dealers are the obvious place but they need to make a margin, that's their business and completely understandable.   The bigger the dealer the more likely they are to have copies in stock of the more common stuff so anything worth less than £50 you'll not get half its book value that's if they want it at all.

Ebay and Discogs will also have a cost to you, Ebay tends to be quicker if you auction them and as long as they are listed well the prices should be fair.  Discogs you can set your own expectation on price.

You have to consider how quickly you want the money too.  Some dealers will sell on consignment just taking a cut form the sale once it sells through their site.

If you can find another collector who want to buy and keep some or all of your collection you're likely to get closer to the total value.

Best of all sell them via small listings on Facebook or here at no cost.
