I'll Be Around - G. Washington
Both are 2:02. yet another case of messing with times, though usually it was making the longer tracks appear shorter (Radio DJ play reasons).

I'll Be Around - G. Washington
I have had a Mala demo, a #102 (RPR dist. vinyl) white demo and a #7823 local Detroit copy. The muddiest (but still not that bad) was #102. I still have a minty #7823 (Hi Rod ) and it is loud and bright...both sides...and has the large ARCHER stamp in the deadwax. If only there were demos of this variant <sigh> I also used to have an original vinyl test press of 'Rat race'...oh the Stafford memories...now that was a touch too bass-y, but all the better for it

Volcanos
Got a blue label 1st press of 'Storm Warning' up for grabs within the page of £10 specials on my site, should anyone else fancy a copy...I mean this is a disc EVERYONE should own...top tuneage. >>> £10 & £15 Specials <<< (There's also an original Billy Floyd - Arctic WD up for offers, but that is defo not in the £10 section! Now that's a tough Arctic number!)

"breakaway" - Steve Karmen Big Band
I'll take the image of them sitting on a wooden bench in the park composing, with the bottle in a plain brown paper bag, naturally. If only you knew what the weather was like on that day, the picture would be complete! Sticklers of the Soul world unite! Cheers Chris

That's all very well and good, but you failed to mention the brand of rum!

"breakaway" - Steve Karmen Big Band
Any idea of the date he recorded this, Chris?

Dr Love-tom Jones
I have quite a few...ahem...I mean I could possibly get you some Japanese releases, if you want? May I throw two more into the arena: 'Things I wanna do' - a wonderful beat-ballad/mid-tempo mover...full orchestration job 'Never give away love' - in the same stomping vein as, 'Stop breaking my heart'.
-
Latin Label - Super Soul
'Silent Heart' is on the wonderful SoulClub site... https://www.soulclub.org/stream/125th_St_Ca...ilent_Heart.ram ...love that piano break starting @ 1:45

Darrow Fletcher Acetate
His telephone number. You are indeed correct that Johnny is his dad/manager.

Dr Love-tom Jones
It's Chinese, not Japanese

Latin Label - Super Soul
125th Street Candy Store - 'Silent Heart' / 'Hey Girl' - Fania Super Northern double-sider on the King of Latin Soul labels! 'SH' is a beautiful lilting mid-tempo soul dance track...awesome piano work! 'HG' is an uptempo stormer with some great brass work and harmonies Nice clean stock copy...£85 +P&P

Marge Dodson - Be Your Baby
Marge Dodson - 'Be Your Baby' - Decca Great uptempo storming Northern Soul...vibes, brass, strings, able backing singers it has the lot! Has had some scene exposure, but worthy of more for sure! Rare stock copy 45 = £200 ...or... Original Decca album featuring 'Be your baby' = £30

Darrow Fletcher Acetate
Original single-sided 10" acetate resplendant in it's Transco sleeve...both being in fab condition. Good little dance tracks (both on Uni Records), but you don't wanna play 'em, you wanna frame this little beauty up and hang it on your record room wall! £250 for this slab of Soul history...inc P&P (gosh!)...or may consider a quality trade.

Voices Incorporated - Thinkin' 45
The album take is sparse in the instrumentation department and leans more towards the groups vocal...ahem...qualities. Not as charismatic as the 45, which I am surprised you don't like, as I always thought it to be very Etta James-y.

"breakaway" - Steve Karmen Big Band
Seems there is (thankfully) a load of Jimmy acetates in circulation and here's another one. It is a great track co-penned by Buddy Scott entitled, 'Breakaway'...but...it is not to be confused with the Steve Karmen classic, as it has a totally different lyric/backing track. Jimmy sings the lead with an uncredited male group backing him up. Obviously a demo run through..one can but imagine what it would've been like with added brass and/or strings! Has anyone got a finished take? It is a 10" acetate that also still had the original lyric sheet slipped inside the sleeve.

Charlie Mcclendon & The Magnificents
I've had x3 copies, no more, no less, over the years. Hmmm...maybe the first one came from you, Tone, but I can't remember what I did 10 minutes ago let alone 10+ years! Far too poppy for you, squire!

Anorak's Corner Sales Update
I would buy up the Japanese copies for you, but I know you'd only want to trade a box of microwave chips and a half a shandy for 'em! C'mon people, someone must have the CSC fliers scanned already for me, surely? Check the website for the gaps. Ta very much.

Charlie Mcclendon & The Magnificents
Yes, I got one...blue label variant...has its moments doesn't it. Most releases that I've come across on the label are 'almost there', but not quite even to my ears (yes, yes, yes, I know I have no taste!). My fave and best release (ino) on the label (and you'd LOVE it, Russ) is the wonderful double-sider from Bob Marshall - 'You got me cryin'' / 'I'm gonna pay you back'. Both sides are excellent scene-playable uptempo Northern.

Anorak's Corner Sales Update
...but alas the Slade 45 hasn't got the frickin' excellent flipside that the Billy Floyd has, 'Time made you change (Your mind)', which is defo worthy of venue turntable action...great sax break. Come to think of it, one of the first (if not the first) 45's I ever bought was Slade's 'C'mon feel the noise'. Yes, I am proud of that fact!

Another super-quick delivery...gotta love the EMS Post service Nice copy, eh?! I found another one last Sunday too...no factory sleeve mind...I almost left it on the shelf in disgust!

Anorak's Corner Sales Update
Hi Spud, Sadly, my 'Collector's affliction' is as virile as ever...possibly worse than it used to be, as I have also been diagnosed with 'Japanese releases' syndrome and a rather worrying 'Funky Disco' virus too. However, when it comes to illness, Carl is still #1! Hopefully see you NYE at Soul Revolution...flights are booked d. -ps If anyone has any of the missing fliers that they could scan and forward to me I'd be most grateful...and Greg will buy you a pint in return, honest like!

Jackie Edwards - Wirl
Interesting, the scratched in matrix is RN 1185-3. The flip, 'Yesterday' is RN 1185-2. The original poster has also re-mailed me saying that they were probably wrong and that it IS a 1st issue after all. Has anyone seen a 'second' issue, or was it just a stab at a price reduction, perish the thought?! Thoughts?

Old Favourite Wanted
Sorry Phil, couldn't resist it. Here's the other relevant pic that hopefully makes up for the 'surprise' of the look of the band:

Old Favourite Wanted
I think you would look quite dashing in that 'smock', Tone Stuart, on the other hand, wants the tassled jacket...he told me...honest like
