That's the spelling of the historical Indian religious figure's name. But the record company was spelled: "Buddah Records" (despite having a logo with a statue representing The Buddha). Record companies often have strange names.🤪
hah...yup...thanks Rob, auto correct on the go...
also when looking at Stan Vincent this older thread popped up...apologies if the link doesn't work

"a place for me" was written by Stan Vincent, he worked at Buddha, where he wrote and produced 'ooh child' by the five stair steps but being at buddha they had the bubble gum side and house bands, which this sounds a bit like so maybe unreleased from that period? ... as I was trawling also saw Edwin Hawkins singers also released a very diff version of it...

Hi Mike,
having a slight site issue, after going through a few sales (say 5 pages on the site) I get this message, and then I can't get back onto the site. If I shut down safari and restart it seems to resolve it. Its probably at my end but has anyone else noticed this lately?

...why naive?... I ordered a few long(ish ) time wants... not super rare, but I knew they were on Johns site and Discogs, but I've not got deep pockets so beyond what I was willing to pay...50% off sorted that... records arrived (ok not instantly, but Ive been hunting a copy for a long time...so what's an extra couple of weeks, he also called to say sorry for the delay) and in the condition stated...I'm happy...

Hello Mick, Your quote above made me think of this clip on Youtube.
The English guy talking on here is Dr Oliver Sacks, a Neuroligist and Author, I've read his book Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain.Watch the wonder of Henry coming alive when listening to his favourite music. When the headphones are taken off Henry talks passionately about Cab Calloway and starts singing. His whole mood transformed from nearly mute to expressing what it means to him "It Gives Me The Feeling Of Love", he can't stop talking. All this just through a few songs, it's incredible what music can do for you.
Mick, I wish you all the best with your health my friend. Music is medicine, to be taken everyday....musicophillia is a good read, and reminded me of this and the original post so thought it might be relevant to put it here
...music is def medicine and has the ability to take us instantly to moments in time... the link here is for playlist for life which is a dementia organisation...

...its not just aimed at people who are suffering from the disease its for everyone...and only you yourself will know the tracks that transport us...

...Morning All, not sure if this is picked up elsewhere on the site but Honest Jons have a checker gospel comp out, picking up where the savoy series left off...I appreciate its a comp and there are other checker comps out there but they are normally put together well, decent pressings and have canny packaging... and its a lovely shop...

I also thought it was a slightly different mix, however the point I was making is it is Bobby King singing, with no evidence of it being Rudy Love.
Yeah agree it's a totally different vocal take but def doesn't sound anything like Rudy Love? his natural register is higher...soz as just agreeing with you and adding no info that your looking for...

I used to go to the Exchange, I think Maria had her hands in all the good local venues, I'd never seen so much polished presentation when going into venues to secure a night, she had it DOWN!

Hi All,
quick question hoping someone may know.. regarding "Roberta Flack's - compared to what", apart from removing verses to fit a 7" time wise , is the single a different take recorded at the same session? a totally different session ? or just cut / edited from the same tapes...
thanks for any info / knowledge folk may have on this..

...off to this next week, with a q&a with the band and Don Letts..looking forward to it..
...This was great...well made film that didn't drag...well worth a watch if you get the chance...q&a was good afterwards...sadly though yet another story of working musicians getting ripped off...Don Letts touched on "authenticity" in the q&a which was an interesting theme which is picked up in the doc... doing the rounds of film fests at the minute but will prob be on streaming things I expect...
