Various_Artists___Jackie_Edwards___Come_to_Me_Softly.mp3always been a fan of the jimmy james record, didnt know this existed though, jackie edwards no less

Loved the Jimmy James version when I had an amazingly scratched copy in about 1973. The piano is lovely and we can forgive the schmaltzy strings just about.

Not so sure about Jackie Edwards on this. His performance reminds me of Jamaican crooners like Winston Groovy. Had a tape of Winston's once and I have to admit did play it in the car a lot, but gave it away thankfully to an engineer. Unfortunately it came back and I finally presented it along with a $2 first Walkman to a friend's 3 year-old- en route to San Jose.

not sure if jackies version should also go to san jose, not sure if its good or bad  still love jimmy james though both versions, although the one on uk piccadilly demo sounds better , sounds like an out take, would put a sound file up but ive gone all techno phobe again

When did Edwards record the song? When he was on Island? Trojan?

The Jimmy James Come to Me Softly I had back in the 70s was a UK Piccadilly issue. Here is a soundfile that is on The Soul Club. This sounds the same to me.
