Gail Nevels - Taking My Mind Off Love /He Can't Do Without Me (Star-Track) (VG++/EX-)  £800

Gritty, hard edged funky northern version of the Carol Anderson banger
Visually graded this under a strong lamp as VG++/EX- but in truth I've had records described as M- in this condition! There is full gloss and the marks are mainly sleeving marks with a few scuffs. Both sides play (loud) pretty much near mint. Being very strict (over strict) on the grading but in reality this is a gorgeous copy of a very hard record (and two fantastic sides)

Delcardos - She's The One I Love/Got No One (Atlantic) (M-) £15 (hold)
Banging, oft overlooked National release of this top two sider: faultless Northern on one side, lilting ballad on the flip

Eptones - Sweet Tater Pie/Making Me Cry (Jox) (VG+)  £100
Loud as f**k bolshy Texan banger. Vinyl is marked but as you can hear, the record plays with huge fidelity. Such a punchy mo fo!

Heem & The Music Monsters - Wake Up People /Piece Of The Rock (Blood Leaf) (M-)  £1000
Running out of superlatives to describe these kinds of things. Never forget the first time I heard this at Deep Funk. It was like 'stand around for a bit with a mix of intrigue and anticipation while the intro weaved across the room them go mental once it kicks in'. MONSTER!!!!

Honey Drippers - Impeach The President/Roy C's Theme Song (Alaga) (M-) £100
Original (with the P not the C) of this break classic - wow…£200 on discogs. Hands over a duster for the cobwebs!

Lorraine Johnson - The More I Get The More I want/The More I Get The More I want (Prelude (w/l)) (EX)  £30

Willie Johnson - Lay It On Me/That's How It Is (Drive ) (M-)  £300
Tough, tough one on the ever consistent Drive imprint.

Roosevelt Matthews - Tighten Up/You Got Me Diggin' You (King ) (M-) £350
Up there with the best Tighten Up Covers but the real gem is the flip…snappy drums, pleading vocals and a banger of a down tmepo soul moment

Gene Middleton - Stop-Where You Are/You Need Love (D and B) (EX+)  £20
Decent bit of 60s Northern

Olympics - There Ain't No Way/Three Billion People (Songsmith) (EX+)  £20
Hard to categorise: sort of mid tempo funky thing that could work in some northern rooms

Pango - Can't Keep Foolin'/Trying To Understand A Woman (Mascot) (VG) £25
Obscure Arizona latin Garage effort - takes a few spins but a good one - plays well above visual grade. Not worn or tired just lots of light marks. Check the clip.
