Hi 1st of you dont tell a major dealer the title of the recored you want to cover up? if he does not know it or gets on his mobile to get you to play it to anouther top man say John Anderson if you get the thumbs up you got a winner, however it is unlikely that you have found a new sound these days if its a UK release the chances are even more remote for 6ts soul only about 20+ new sounds have been rediscovered since 1990 and most have been Jamacan artists Glen Miller the best? as for US I have a few sounds that nobody seems to know about. If you are a DJ just put a beer mat over it do not stick a lable on it, call it what you want. Best of Luck DAVE KIL

  5. I remember visiting Tony Jebbs home in Blackpool in late 74 with Mick smith and Big Clive and of course we went to the Mecca Tony recieved a great reception from the bros and sisters that were there who all wanted Tony to spin a few sounds for old times sake however he was not allowed to by the top DJ, when it was closeing we headed of to Wigan Casino once again Tony was cheered and got a round of aplause by all as he had no records with him a small set was put together and he played his spot, for some reason I had 10 round card circle badges on me dont even ask why and I wrote on them Lavine is shit as you may recall i used to sell records oin the bar with others Pete Wid Ady Mick CAN ANY ONE REMEMBER THAT NIGHT? and was it realy me who started the lavine is shit thing? 16. I remember the days that no DJs played Boots except for John Vincent who often played EMI discs and did not care about it also RASS Wistanly the man who looks like a Bootleg and is conviced that poeple went to the Casino to see him as he invented Northern Soul did you know that?. I personally loved my little box of bootlegs in the early days Soul Sounds, Out Of the Past and other lables like Soultown and Canterbury we all did but I have to agree that why dont poeple try and get hold of some classic soul thats afordable to them and not wasre money on this crap if it is lagit ie Kent then buy it but the poeple who buy this stuff thinking that they are going to get there money back are fooling themselves however you have got to addmit even repital dealers who for many years would stand up and expose the botlegers sell them MS included and why does ebay allow it as there policy says it should not be on it as Dave Godin said report them ti the inland revenue All the Breast Dave

My advice is leave them as you find the as in my eary days i have fucked up much more than i have cleaned up. but the use of lighter fluid does work if you take it easy. if the sticker is on a label and has been on for years there will always be a mark on most records showing it has been removed in the case of the lou pride it was enevatble to get F**ked up ask yourself alway why am I getting a rare recored at the price i payed its always the case that the big boys have got the mint one thats the way its been since the late7ts...also GOOGLE THE BEATLES BUTCHER COVER as they give ex coverage on how to peel of the stick on over lable to reveal the BUTCHER SLEEVE. Also how much is your recored worth as if its not a top raeraty meaning its value is under £300 leave it for someone else to do MANY THANKS DAVE KIL

  20. MANY THANKS FOR ALL THE BOTHERS AND SISTERS WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS SUBJECT..How to proceed first of it jumps out at you at the quality of the black music that has train or a referance to it in the title my guess it is so popular as it represent movement for for black poeple in the USA and WEST INDIES IN MOST CASES IT MAKES YOU LISTEN TO THE RYTHM AND THE THE MESSAGE THAT IS SUNG TO IT right back to the days of theBlues the harmonica gave the simple rythm of a train beat which is most prominant on discs that come from bellow the Mason Dixon Line & the West Indies the message is that we will keep moveing and if you think about it its quite spitual in its meaning from the days of slavery the message has of liberation and indeed emancipation that the message will travel faster by music than by reading it as you are aware most black poeple did not recieve the standared of education that was on offer to white poeple in the southern states the train message took over from the work & chain gangs made the rythm by hammering in time and adding a song to it and at the right time stop and steart again this stop start rythem was tailor taylor made in the development of R&B and even in the UK in SKifle music and has progress in black music right up till today in that it is essential to have a brake in the tune. In Jamacan Ska & reggae once again if you listen to the tune the rythem is alway to the forfront as most of the poeple would find out the news from the recordes that they listened to So to conclude i would sudjest that the rythem means more than it would at first apeer represents movement for the blackman away from the position they are in the Freedom Train ect also all the outher simmular records that have travel in the river songs the horse the mule and even walking. As promissed i will complete what i think arethe best and rareist and i intend to contact ACE and sanctry records to see what they can come up with by demand. if you have further ideas as what is the meaning of soul as there are many but whats your bag what hits the spot I say its the rythm of movement to freedom once again many thanks for keeping this topic going i will report back DAVE KIL
