theory is that it by using them it offers another level of navigation
a thread about a 45 could be tagged say with artist or title or label tags
people can then with just a click view related posts quickly
however as with all things on here it falls down cause people don't use them
I sort of understand, but how do you get to see the related posts via the tags, do you click the tag? (I'll try it)

OUT OF THE PAST - REALLY OLD OLDIES
Sorry it's been so long since my last upload. Only realised when Mixcloud sent me a reminder! So here's one for the oldies fans, this is a compilation of mainly sounds that were popular at The Twisted Wheel and The Torch, and of course at oldies events ever since. Really Old Oldies. Amazing how many instrumentals were massive back in the good old days. Anyway there's nothing on here you won't know, but it's nice to give them a dusting off every now and again. Enjoy!

What was that Marco Page crap on Avco ?? Help 'cause i'ts now bugging me , still a shite record but need to know as I won't sleep
I love that Swifty, Marco Page...his name was Marc Copage
Who Can I Turn To
and yes, one of the very very worst records ever, think he was a child TV actor
-
I wasn't intending getting too specific, but 3 tunes that attracted no interest at all were Martha & Vandellas - Heartless, Miracles - Would I Love You & Gerri Granger - You Must Be Doing Something Right. Not out-and-out in-demanders admittedly, but worth 99p surely (£2 postage). Perhaps not :-)
I managed to get £5 for the gerri Granger record on Discogs this week!

I listened to Aaron's choices and as someone has already said, they're not remotely northern and I pretty much disliked them. Listened to this one and found myself actually thinking I quite like this and I'd dance to it, so if they're regarded as the same genre, they're must be a subtle difference I'm missing?
I must be missing all of it, thats one of the worst songs I've ever heard, the backing's alright but the lyrics and singing are the aural equivalent of a bowel movement
-
The youngsters will soon fade away as most did around the twentys age. The scene has been dumbed down so much due to the media and books.every man and his dog are "into northern soul" yet few actually get it or support a scene.
You're right about the media. I took Sam round to a school friends house last night and I had a conversation with his Dad (aged approx 40) who I'd only briefly said hello to at school, anyway I had a really nice chat with this guy, when I mentioned Northern Soul he immediately said "yeah it's making a come back isn't it", so he's obviously seen the BBC program or heard something on the radio.

Has anyone with the box set been able to use the download card okay? I go into the "backtoblackvinyl" website as instructed and select the box set, then go to the section where you're supposed to input the code and there's nowhere to input the digits.....Might be due to me using an older Mac, but thought I'd ask any ideas here before trying to contact Universal and get lost in their service dept again.
Thanks, Steve
I downloaded it ok (on a mac), if you get stuck I'll send you them

It isn't Northern Soul!
Just off to the Post Office to draw my pension and buy enough records with my £110:00 to become the "hip dj that everybody knows."
No it's not. I might just as well post up my favourite 50's rock & roll records if we're just going to post up any old 50's tunes, it's supposed to be a Soul forum?

I'm pleased to hear that the dealers in the clear, as he's my oldest pal and well known on the East Midlands soul scene.
How weird though, to design a boot in the style of a UK pushed out centre.
Thanks for the clarification guys.
These are late Stafford era bootlegs, this and Stewart Ames came out at the same time, both are UK pressings, all have the centres knocked out.

Has The Bottom Fallen Out Of Cheaper Record Sales?
in Look At Your Box
Well no not really, because if you think about let's say before the internet revolution and the hundreds / thousands of returnees, there were not really that many DJ's, you only have to check out the old flyers and adverts, you'll see the same names all the time, and the small club scene aka soul nights were quite few and far between...so lets say there were only 100 dj's at the most, there was a good chance they'd all be able to pick up the in-demand tunes. fast forward to nowadays, almost everyone is a dj and now a thousand people are after the same records instead of a hundred. That's what I read it to mean when Chalky wrote it anyway.
