- If this is true then we're gutted. Big friends of Joe and Becky in the scene for 25 years plus. First met at the Travellers Rest Rotherham many many moons ago. Regulars at most niters I used to attend including in the R N B scene. Heard he was in hospital (not sure why) but was expected to be well again and discharged. Will be phoning around trying to get more info.
Unfortunately true. Had some great laughs down the years. Used to see Becky and Joe all over the place and we became the best of friends around 25 years ago. Joe and Becky never changed at all. Always the same. A true gent with a wicked sense of humour who never took life too seriously except for the most important things in life. Music. Beer..lol. RIP Joe Dutton. Honoured to be your friend. Stuart & Cathryn.

I'm never ceased to be amazed on what people will bid on.
Introduction missing and cracked.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. There are some real fanatics in this scene who think a rare 45-even if unplayable-is worth owning! I remember one time I made a copy (which I thought was unplayable) of Jack Montgomery-Don't Turn Your Back On Me-Barracuda into a wallclock. Had some company round. Someone saw it (Keith from Eccles I think) and offered me £200 in cash and trades for it. I thought he was a bit mad at the time but if he wanted it why not?

theres some funny people around
a week ago i saw replies online i think it was the dail mail after an article on betty lavettes new book, the first repy was from an american he said who is this woman? who has ever heard of her? and who is going to buy this book? believe me i know my motown music and betty lavette was no motown artist!
Here's the article you were talking about Graham. Hilarious.

Had to laugh at this, there's a picture of me on Facebook at a venue and I can't remember where I am ! Must have been the Torch !!
And for years many people have automatically assumed i've been to certain places that I can't remember going to.They even claim they saw me there and that's where they first met me. I just go along with it and smile...

Well, this sort of thing has been going on for years in the scene. Bullshit. Some people feel the need to be respected and to impress, To be thought of as the 'big men/women on the scene'. Amazingly been everywhere, Had every big record and (amazingly) sold them, Probably been in the scene for some time as just another face in the crowd but feel the need to finally have at least SOME recogition for the time they've put in? Or were they around at the time but wish they HAD been there? Who knows?

Anyway, Classic or not, I try not to post any tune up on Facebook that I don't own a copy of myself. If people turn up at our venue on the strength of what they've already seen and heard they may be slightly disappointed that we've not got what they expected. Rest assured though that all the stuff they DO hear will be enjoyable..

A bloke Im aware of on face book ,keeps posting tunes ,this is a torch classic that's a torch classic but I know he was only 14 when the torch closed its doors in 1973 ,Just makes me smile and wonder why
Bazza
Agreed Bazza. Ah yes, BS in the scene. It's everywhere and has been for years. Agree with tonyp-It doesn't stop anyone posting stuff as such-and-such classics unless he/she claims he/she actually WAS there. By the way, sometimes I hate telling everyone how old I am and sometimes I don't give a shit. I was 13 when the Torch closed its doors so I wasn't exactly a regular!.

ANDREW TURNER RIP
in All About the SOUL
Posted
Hi again everyone. Hope you are all well. Sorry to have to report the sad passing of our good friend, collector and DJ from Reading, Philadelphia ANDREW TURNER. Loved by everyone he met. Came over here and stayed with us frequently. He was a massive fan of the scene over here, especially the Prestatyn Weekenders. Was even the witness at our wedding! Will be sorely missed. Goodbye Andy. Thanks for the memories
PS Thinking of putting on a tribute night for him over at The Oxcroft for anyone who’s interested in coming.
