  1. Maybe I’ll try to persuade Mr Jeffries to go in to CD production
  2. Just checked the Stafford Story on the off chance I’d missed one. You’re right - Pyramid is the track that’s on there
  3. Unfortunately it has to be a physical CD. I still prefer CDs to downloads - there’s no sleeve notes on Spotify 😁
  4. I have the Stafford Story CD. I’ll check it out
  5. I hadn’t thought of putting cover up titles. Could be worth a try
  6. Thanks for that. I’ll do a trawl with Stafford mentioned in the title & see if it brings up anything
  7. In my younger (fitter) years Keni Lewis would’ve been right up my street, but I accept what you say now. To be honest I’d take anything they’d be able to release
  8. True, I know they’ve had the rights for Connie Questell. Who knows it may work
  9. I wish they would. Maybe I should try a cheeky email suggesting it to them
  10. Probably why I’m still looking twenty years on. I suppose the only hope may be befriend someone at Kent or Goldsoul
  11. I’m surprised Kent didn’t release that album on CD. I remember it coming out in the early 80’s when CDs were touted as the next big thing
  12. That is my worry. It’s not as though they’re bad tracks, which is what makes it more surprising that nobody has released them
  13. Thanks for the offer. At present I’m determined to stick to my guns with legit releases. Although if there are loads of tracks I haven’t got in the next revision I may give up on the rules
  14. THanks for that, It's good to know I'm not on my own
  15. Around 20 years ago Kev Roberts brought out the first edition of the Top 500 Northern Soul Records & I decided to try and get every track mentioned in the book on CD, whether in the top 500 or not for a bit of fun. After all it should be fairly easy & cheap to do compared to getting the vinyl..... wrong on both counts. Twenty years later there are still tracks I don't have & to make it worse Kev brought out a second edition to add to the list of unobtainables. With rumour of a third edition beig prepared I'd like your help to find the last few tracks on CD. I set myself one rule; it has to be a CD sold in shops & on line - no soul night freebies, which is what makes it so difficult as if I had the cash I could buy any record because I know it exists, but with CDs, someone has had to consider it worthy of putting on an album or compilation & then I have to find it! Although I can't complain as it's lead me to buy albums & box sets for a single track and I've found some amazing music through them The tracks I have left to find are: Mello Souls - We Can Make It Joseph Webster - My Love Is So Strong Soul Inc - My Proposal Connie Questell - Give Up Girl Keni Lewis - Not The Marrying Kind I know the purists will look at my quest with disdain, but if anyone can help I'd appreciate it Thanks in advance
  16. Hi All, Looking for a copy of 1968 release of Judy Street - What Strider 45-0004 Monarch pressing with circled MR in dead wax Matrix No: 72913 in dead wax Ex or better PM with details and price if you can help Cheers
  17. Probably won’t play it once I’ve repaired it. Any idea what the likelihood of getting another is, or a price range?
  18. Didn’t know you could still get them. Should be able to find them somewhere on line, but my crafting skills aren’t great so I’ll do it from the You Turn Me On side
  19. I can only hope. If all else fails, I'll glue it, It'll never get played again. If it wasn't for the fact that it was a youth club spin that I bought once I could afford to buy original tracks it'd go in the bin
  20. Perfect, hopefully he'll be able to make it whole. Just need to get a replacement now & keep this one safe
  21. Hi All, Can anyone help? I've had a copy of Judy Street - "What" since my youth, in the early eighties it got a small split on the edge (my fault for not treating it with respect), but yesterday whilst cleaning it, the suction from the cleaner pulled the split all the way to the dead wax. My question is can styrene be repaired? not necessarily back to playing quality, I know I'll have to replace it, but I don't want it to break in half as it's part of my NS history. Also, can anyone let me know how much I'll be paying for a replacement & if there are any originals out there? Thanks in advance
  22. It's a track I'd like have, it'd be good to have a track (S.O.S.) that I remember from Saturday mornings at the Top Rank that doesn't offend the ears of the people in the know, but at £1k I couldn't justify it & losing at recent JM auctions the Discogs offering could be a bargain by comparison
  23. Hi All, There’s been a number of threads recently about how JM’s auction records are not that rare, but coming up is Edwin Start’s Scott’s On Swingers I’ve checked previous posts on here about the track, but most have been sales & added to that Mr Jeffries sold one recently for around £800 & a well known DJ has one for sale on Discogs at £1k, so I have an idea of price. My point is: surely this must be mega rare? It was effectively an extended jingle for Scot Regan so you’d imagine that other DJs wouldn’t play it meaning it had a very small target market & hence a small production run. Does anyone know if this is the case or am I way off the mark? Cheers
  24. That fits, most of the other stuff in the box was either 70’s stuff or mid 70’s reissues of 60’s tracks
  25. This is getting more confusing. I’ve just gone over the record again with my phone on maximum zoom and found the letters RP etched in the dead wax. Could it be a re-press?
