This will be our second of three of our new soul club and this month we have made a special change to the resident DJs along with Adrian Cope Who is also a member of the team of Wolfies in Walsall and Lee Fletcher who was a member of The Cat Club in Desford and Willington, we have ask another guy to come aboard from Leicester Richard Elmer here is a little information about the guy, First DJd at the age of 19 in December 1986 at the Gallery Ballrooms in Leicester and went on to be a regular guest for the Leicester Soul Club at the Holy Cross & Lakeside Marina venues over the next few years. That got me a few spots in the Nottinghamshire area too. Used to spend my lunch hours frequenting Ally Mayer’s record stall on Leicester market and Boogaloo Records on Granby Street picking up lots of great vinyl as well as the lists from soul bowl & mick smith. Was a regular at the 100 club in the late 80’s & early 90’s with my tape recorder in tow. Along with Bob Lee & Mark Wilson was a mainstay of the soul room of the Phoenix Nights Scooter Rallies which ran between 2006 - 2019 before covid intervened. It was at one of these that Les Norman heard me play and in 2023 I had the honour of a doing a spot at the Dark Horses all-nighter. Strangely a few years earlier at a mini all-nighter in Leicester, Sean Chapman described him as a dark horse. Along with these guys we have a well-known and established record collector & dealer and who has played around the country and also in the USA from Coalville our guest DJ the one and only Simon Hunt. KIBWORTH SOUL CLUB We are holding a Charity Northern Soul Night in aid of Motor Neurone Disease at Lubenham Village Hall, Laughton Road, Lubenham, Leic’s LE16 9TE on Saturday 27th January 2024 along with our five DJs playing the best Northern Soul.
