That's not my name
I have a friend who was at Stoke and swears he heard a track with some of the lyrics that The Ting Ting's "That's not my name" use.
Was he correct in hearing this or am I, I mean is he going off his head?

Well here is the list so far, I have not counted them yet so lord knows if we are any where near 500 but who cares?
As I said in my earlier posts, if there are any glaring monstrosities that need removing then just let me know and if it can be justified then I will delete the track. I would ask you all to appreciate that all of these tracks have been added by Soul Source people so they are all important to some and therefore deserve inclusion on here.
Also I have not checked for duplication so again if you see any thing please let me know so amendments can be made.
The list is not in order, well it is really, it is in the order of how it fell on Soul Source and that's good enough for me, if there are any clever Dickey's out there who can arrange for this list to be voted on then please crack on.
Top 500 Vintage Modern Northernsoul Tracks (Modernesque)
This list was collated by Simon Cuerden as part of the Modern Northern Soul Top 500. It's based on the Modern Soul records that have become most popular in Northern Soul Dance Clubs in The United Kingdom from the mid-1960s and beyond. The term "Modern" is a contentious title as it suggests a real shelf life nonetheless we do have tracks that have outlived their Modern status but they are well and truly captured within our imagination and cult that is Northernsoul.
For many these tracks represent a new and fresh approach to Northernsoul and to others it is nothing more than an uncomfortable reminder that music has and always will progress.
The list has been compiled by lovers of Modern Soul Music on The Soul Source forum and the majority can be enjoyed on Youtube just by copying the title into their search engine.

TBH ladies & gentleman this thread has just degenerated into a posting of modern soul lists & youtube clips.The thread is supposed to be about "modern anthems" - much as I like & have played Maxine Inniss - Dawn Tallman etc. I don't think they are anthems & certainly not in the same league popularity wise, play wise & even that widely known about as records by Jesse James, Corey Blake, Gloria Scott, Bobby Sheen, Percy & Them, Eddie Billups, Bessie Banks etc.etc.
There are lots of fantastic modern soul records out there that I would love to see gaining "anthem" status - wanting it to happen & it actually happening are two different things.
However, I also understand there can be a fine line between"anthem" & "played out."
Epic this is what I will do:
I will collate a list from what has been included so far just by coping and pasting into a document.
Once this is done I'll publish the list to allow any one to challenge any of the tracks.
Now I know there will be a difference of opinion as to what is termed "Modern" so I will just take a rather large pinch of salt for every one and try my hardest to remember that this is not an exact science and no matter what is done the soul police will be miffed.
I did toy with the idea of calling it, Modernish or Records that have been played as Modern but a sudden urge to be sensible has kicked in, nevertheless, if there are any glaring errors that can and are sensibly challenged then they will be removed.
If this offends any one then I send my apologies in advance, I'm usually found at the odd Allnighter, feel free to chat to me but for fooks sake do not bore me.
Now for those who are enjoying our music and who aren't too anal then lets keep em coming.
