A Grumpy Soul Special Event

The Northern Soul community is gearing up for a landmark celebration as Jumpin’ Joan Livesey marks her 60th birthday with a spectacular “Grumpy Soul Special Event.” This highly anticipated evening promises to unite devoted dancers, music lovers, and some of the scene’s most respected DJs under one roof for an unforgettable night.

Admission is free—guests may arrive with an invitation from Joan, a complimentary VIP pass, or simply join the festivities on the night. Doors open at 8pm, though early arrival is strongly encouraged, as the atmosphere is expected to build quickly.

In a rare treat for long-time GRUMPY followers. Leading the charge, returning for one night only is Grumpy OG Dave Welding, joined by fellow Grumpy Soul stalwarts Phil Threlfall and Carl Fortnum. The line-up continues with an impressive roster of special guests, including Lenny Harkins, Keith Whitson, Baz Maleady, Alex Jones, Phil Wainwright, and Roger Banks—each bringing their own timeless selections and unmistakable energy to the decks.

For those who favour a modern twist, a dedicated modern room will be in full effect, showcasing the talents of Soul Sam, Steve Plumb, Charlie Smith, Nick McKinnon, and Pete Ratcliffe. Their sets promise to provide a vibrant counterbalance, ensuring the celebration caters to every corner of the soul spectrum.

Adding to the experience, a relaxed lounge-style Record Bar area will also be available, with a warm welcome extended to record dealers ready to share rare finds and treasured vinyl.
