Jerome from Still Music passed on some upcoming release news, here you go...

We’re proudly reissuing the entire catalog of the fantastic 9th Creation, one of the best funk, soul, disco and boogie outlet to ever come out of Stockon, CA (and a huge influence on LA Rap and beyond).

This series is full of classic West Coast original funk, soul, gospel, disco sprinkled by some insanely rare and excellent boogie and modern soul releases.

All titles have been remastered and will be released with their original sleeves + labels, on vinyl, cd and digital and will be released on Past Due Records.

Release date is 11/30/2018 worldwide.

Part 2 will be an unreleased album circa 1980-81 w/ a full story Jacob Arnold and many pictures.

9th Creation - Bubble Gum LP

Bubble Gum is 9th Creation’s first album. Originally scheduled to be released on Bill Wither’s Sussex label it was released on PYE in Europe and self released on Ritetrack in the US after Sussex went under. Bubble Gum is a classic funk and soul album known to many as a treasure trove for beats and breaks. We just love it as it is…

9th Creation - Reaching For The Top LP

Second masterpiece from 9th Creation, “Reaching for the top” was initially released on Prelude records in 1977. A huge step up from “Bubble Gum”, this album dives into disco, funk and gospel funk. Another classic, reissued for the first time ever.

9th Creation - Superheroes LP

After 9th Creation’s departure from Prelude (due to a lack of promotional support). J.D. Burrise brought the band back in the studio for a self produced and released album under his own outlet Burrise Way Productions. “Superheroes” shows the band reaching maturity in their heavy soul, funk and disco sounds. A monster album reissued for the first time!

9th Creation - Mellow Music 7”

“Mellow Music” is the most sought after 7” from 9th Creation. This single marks the band’s new direction and was announcing an album that remained unreleased (more on that later). This single is a boogie funk gem and both tracks are pure monsters of heavy bass, synth, horns and massive vocals. A must have that’s been known to be traded for well over $1000 in the collectors market.

9th Creation - Love Crime (mIni LP)

“Love Crime” is a unicorn. As rare as “Mellow Music”, this mini LP is the absolute holy grail for West Coast boogie funk lovers. It is the final release from the band 18 years after their inception. 4 tracks of absolute bliss and the final attempt for 9th Creation to finally make it in the mainstream. Originals of this 12” have sold for silly money for a while ….
