"Recently it looked as though Beatin' Rhythm, the Tib Street record shop, might leave our city for good.

Names that spring to mind qualifying as regular customers (having been in at least twice and bought something). Morrissey, Wayne Hemingway, Johnny Marr, Christopher Eccleston, Pete Doherty, Lily Allen, Mark Lamarr, Stuart Maconie, Chemical Brothers, Grandmaster Flash....

It looked as if model of retail distinctiveness was calling it a day. This would have been a nightmare for shopping diversity..."
