1. The Precisions - If This Is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely) - Drew
Great Detroit, can't wait to see them now that Rob W has found them
£20
2. Scientists of Soul - Be's That-A-Way Sometime - KASHE
All-time great name for a band.
£15
3. Bobby Bland - Getting Used To The Blues - Duke
Remember this from the 100 Club in the 80s.
£20
4. Marvin Smith - Have More Time - Brunswick
Great Chicago
£25
5. The Magnificent Men - Forever Together - Capitol
Awesome group dancer
£40
6. Ben Monroe - Broken Home - Dakar
Absolutely unbelievably good 70s midtempo, though with Horace Ott involved that's no surprise...get your wallet out Pete Smith
£30
7. Garland Green - You Played On A Player - Revue
Never made a bad record, this is a slow midtempo gem with a good flip
£25
8. The Artistics - In Another Man's Arms b/w Patty Cake - Okeh Demo
Brilliant double sider which I think is quite hard to find these days on demo (sure someone will point out there are 12 on ebay as I write).
£50
9. The Marvelows - Your Little Sister - ABC Paramount Demo
Plays great as you can hear. Label is also fine except for the inexplicable actions of whichever knob owned it before me...black bar filled in across the label as per scan)
£60
10. The Velvelettes - Lonely Lonely Girl Am I - VIP
Great dancer. Very thin pressure crack from the centre out for about half an inch but is totally stable and does not affect play in any way. Slight 'tick' caused by scratch for first few seconds of intro but as you can hear from the soundfile this is a very clean copy.
£50
11. The Cornerstone Trio - Summertime - Logo
Really great r&b version of the standard - hardly recognisable!
£30
12. Willie and the Mighty Magnificents - Funky (8) Corners Pt 1 - All Platinum
One of those bizarre 70s records where some bloke is bragging to his mates about how he saw off the local hard case by doing the funky 8 corners. I'd like to see him try it in Coventry.
