Sound Quality?

Hello all, just been listening to Dee Dee Warwick " I Want To Be With You/i'm Gonna Make you Love Me" LP on Mercury and realised that "We're Doing Fine" on the album totally blows away my 7" on Blue Rock, the sound quality of the Mercury album is far and above that of the Blue Rock recording, any other people here got versions of tracks that are superior either on LP or single version (just on a sound issue here). Hope i am making sense with this post, perhaps my ears are shot !
