JOEY GEE - It's More Than I Deserve (ABC W/D) E+ £200 Superb Northern mid-tempo brilliance and a belting R&B style flip side. Really lovely example. XOL. LITTLE ESTHER PHILLIPS - While It Lasted (Lennox) Near Mint £25 One of Esther's best IMO. Beautiful near mint copy straight from New York. Tough to find in this condition. JACKIE LEE - Darkest Days (ABC) Ex £90 All time great. Tore the floor up many times over the years and probably always will ! BOBBY BLAND - Gotta Get To Know You (Duke) Ex £15 The great Bobby Bland in fine form with this 1969 brass laden belter. CHUCK JACKSON & MAXINE BROWN - Never Had It So Good (Wand) VG+ £5 Two great's giving us one soulful duet of a song. So good ! Storage wear to label and some light scuff marks to vinyl. Slight surface noise in parts. Nothing distracting though. CHECKMATES - Mastered The Art Of Love (Capitol PROMO) VG++ £35 Top latin edged "Club Soul" dancer. Rarely comes up for sale. TYRONE DAVIS - Can I Change My Mind (Dakar) VG++ £6 Chicago class. WOL in black marker pen but can bearly be seen as it's on the black colouring of the label. (Looks far worse on scan actually). HERMAN GRIMES - (I'll Make You) Smile Again (Boot Heel) E+ £25 Original 1st issue of this early R&B dancer. Later re-issued on Musicland. £40 on J.M's DEE DEE SHARP - Deep Dark Secret (Cameo) Ex £130 Great memories of seeing Miss Sharp perform this at Prestatyn some years ago. Was selling for over double this back then. Still sounds the biz played out loud. BETTY EVERETT - I Can't Say (ABC WLP) Ex+ £35 Very rare WLP of this Chicago killer from Betty. Johnny Pate class production too. Great stuff! GENE WOODBURY - That's Not Half Bad (Del-Val) Ex+ £75 Great Philly rariety with a pretty decent flip side too (always draw's attention when I 've played it out anyway ). Very nice clean copy. When they turn up most are pretty mashed ! SHARPEES - I've Got A Secret (One-Derful) Ex £15 More Chicago class ! Classic oldie still sounding great. CHRIS BARTLEY - I Know We Can Work It Out (Buddah PROMO) VG++ £40 Rarely available Van McCoy masterpiece that was a C/U as "Sugar Baby" at some point (can't remember by who though ) Brilliant tune whatever you know it by.
