Ann Sexton - The Beginning (Sound Stage 7) - Press : USA (Original) SS 1500
Stunning Condition original of superb indemand soul LP across both it's full gloss shiny sides - with many a deep cut including ""I Had a Fight With Love" and I'm His Wife (you're just a friend)" etc. LP and sleeve are very clean. Rare, killer, clean, well priced, one copy.. be quick.
Tommie Young - Do You Feel The Same Way Label : Soul Power / Press : USA
Soul grail of an LP and rightly so. Incs: many but "Hit & Run Lover" is the top class dancer. Genuine USA original '73 pressing and label but imported into the UK for distribution by Contempo/Pye. Has Contempo sticker on reverse. Wax has full gloss, just a couple of very very light marks but so close to M-. Lovely copy. Sleeve has just a bit of general wear. Also check for "That's All A Part Of Loving Him" etc.
Curtis Mayfield - (and here's...) Something to Believe In (Curtom / RSO) - Press : USA
Condition record : VG+ / Cover : VG Price : £12.00It's all about "Tripping Out" on here. How can anyone not like this? Sleeve has quite heavy seam wear on all sides and a small corner crease otherwise fine, wax has a few light but plays well.
Donny Hathaway - Live (Atlantic) - Press : UK - 1972
Condition record : EX+ / Cover : EX Price : £10.00
Truly an essential & such a brilliant LP, it's an every track let play through LP, one of the best live Soul LPs, the version of "What's Going On" is incredible. Superb condition Original UK issue, from two dates (New York & Hollywood).
Various - RARE 2 : 70s Soul & Rave-Ival Classics (RCA) - Press : UK
Gatefold is a bit worn and has bit of residue sticker mess. Superb all round listen with a soul cut all the B-boys love (& everyone else): 'Playing Your Game Baby'
Slim Smith - Born to Love (Studio One) - Press : USA / SOLP-004
Killer LP and the right pressing, (Red and Yellow) many alternate pressings had playback issues. "Happy Times": an 'for all time' Jamaican sweet soulful classic. Clean glossy wax, just a few lightish marks.
Jimmy London - Welcome to My World (Burning Sounds) - Press : UK?
Phil Pratt produced Reggae LP, UK released (I think) in 1978 - obscure. No sleeve but a great price for this rare LP, with a sleeve it would be priced about three times as much.
Alton Ellis - Sings Rock and Soul (Coxsone) - Press : UK (SCL 8008) Mono
Condition record : EX / Cover : EX Price : £30.00
Classic & Essential from the master singer. Lovely heavy pressing, as for the year I'm unsure (late 70s?) first press is 1967 - Incs: 'I'm Still in Love with You' / 'Mad Mad Mad', 'Why', 'I'm Just a Guy' and well, all of them! so soulful. Matrix SOLP 0135, has just been professionally cleaned and it's a top copy.
Chain Reaction - Change of Action (Congress Productions) - Press : UK
Reggae / Lovers-ish revive LP - reduced due to lack of original sleeve. UK 1980 release. Incs: "Born to Love You"
Marlena Shaw - Sweet Beginnings (Columbia) - Press : US
Condition record : EX / Cover : VG+ (light ringwear, sm. sticker on reverse) Price : £10.00
Nice copy of classic 1977 Soul LP - Incs: 'Go Away Little Boy' plus the superb sophisticated jazz shuffler 'Look at Me Look at You' and the title track too.
Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson - Midnight Band : First Minute of a New Day (Arista) - Press : UK
Condition record : EX / Cover : VG : Gatefold (long surface tear tear across front) Price : £10.00
Superb and essential Gil & Brian LP from 1975. Incs: Ain't No Such Thing as Superman, Must Be Somethng, Winter in America - well, every track!! Pretty clean & glossy wax, sleeve clean apart from a long tear (that isn't on any text / picture). Another personal favourite I never get weary with. "Seasons may change and feelings may change but music remains"
