A few people that know me, know I am a big American Football fan. Well the Superbowl is being held in Detroit this year. I was delighted when it was announced three or four years ago. Knowing how much stock is placed in the 'half-time show'.

Imagine my feelings when I heard the Rolling Stones were going to perform blush.gif:lol:

Angry of South Wales, so beside himself, composes a turse letter to the office of Paul Tagliabue (think Graham Kelly without the squeaky voice), asking why a town so synonymous with soul music, would choose a group from a different continent.

I got a reply. Paraphrasing a little, it said

'Get lost you British jerk. Everybody loves the Stones, and who from Detroit is THAT popular' :lol:blush.gif

Apparently noboby will have heard of Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder (Doing the pregame which doesnt get shown apart from one US channel), Lionel Richie, The Temptations etc etc. Hey I doubt if the kids even know who Eminem is!

Thats like Manchester holding the world cup final and getting McFly or even worse Blur to perform at half time!! Or Wigan having the Wurzels (OK I can see that one the Wurzels ROCK)

Would Nashville have Country and Western? I think so. New Orleans Jazz? Of course. Seattle? Grunge. Motown? The frigin Stones!!

Detroit should be holding its head in shame. What an opportunity missed.

OK I know if you arent interested in the NFL you'll be shrugging your shoulders, but, Unsatisfied? I'm forkin furious.
