Firstly, apologies if this subject has already been raised....
Could anybody shed some light on this for me at all please??
I went to buy a record from the US via Ebay and the price was $30 ( £19) with postage coming in at £9.
When I went to checkout, it was insisting that I had to pay for this protection with my purchase adding another $17 to the total costs. Apparently, it covers import duties, and ebay and paypal buyer protection. Sorry, but I thought I already had that with any purchase??(Obviously not the customs charges)
Even if I got hit with customs charges, I thought that threshold was £18/19 anyway??
I asked to cancel the sale ande explained to the seller my reason for doing so. I'm not prepared to pay for something that I already have and for something shouldn't really get hit with customs anyway.
He agreed and understood, although he said that it was quite a task to opt out of the programme.
He's since opted out completely, as he knows it will cripple his record sales.
More charges just means even less purchases from the US for me.
