Although not a major name on the scene, BILLY SWAIN was a main focal point for hearing Northern in the Nottingham area in the very early 70's.
Sadly, Bill lost his life at the back end of last week. A talented guy, he exposed many a tune to the Brit faithful at Trent Bridge. And found himself recently working at the Shed, Beeston, Nott'm.
As a 14 yr old, he was my first 'jock hero' in 1971. A bloke who could and should have been much bigger.
My own personal memory comes from a music sequence in 72(ironically a few months before I replaced him at the Brit-my first gig) whereby he played Catch Me I'm Falling, Can't You See Youre Losing Me, Friday Night, The Way Youve Been Acting Lately. I realised then, you don't need to say too much when you play great records one after another.
