Hi and welcome to the second and last list of September 2016. All new fresh stuff not listed before this time. And a pretty extensive list this time around.
There’s a small pile of rare and great funk 45’s such as All the People “Cramp your style”, Bootsey Phelps “Fun in your thang”, James West “Hanging out”, Melvin Bliss “Synthetic substitution”, 1619 Bad Ass Band and more.
Northern soul oldies in Ambers “I love you baby”, Poets, Vontastics, Moments, Mighty Marvelows.
The modern soul section is filled with goodies. A couple of expensive ones such as an issue copy of Bessie Banks on Quality, Dreamflight, Wack Attack, Fantastic Puzzles. And a bunch of mid priced ones. For instance Sergio Mendes “Love music”, Tapestry “It’s not the world’s that messed up”, Main Ingredient in-demander “Instant love” plus a load of major label cheap but great ones.
There’s a few very nice crossover items such as Thomas East “Follow the rainbow” on True Soul, Sedatrius “Just one earring”, Sly Slick & Wicked’s “Surely”, George McCrae “Take it all off” and Prophecy “Rain in my life”.
The two step section is back with a few rarities plus cheap and great stuff, and so is the sweet/deep section.
Lastly there’s two real nice 12 inchers and a bunch of albums such as Lou Pride “Very special”, a still sealed Gene Chandler “The girl don’t care”, Conti Family including “You’ve got me going baby”.
Melvin Bliss – Synthetic substitution – Sunburst / EX / £250 (Funky soul classic. Super indemand and rightly so, had over a dozen orders for this the last time I listed it. Vinyl issue, logo copy. Flipside label has a small shade like mark.)
Cavril Payne – When I open my eyes – Ruval / VG+ / £110 (Great jazzy soul! Usually seen on LP this 45 is much rarer. First press misprint copy with title “When I open my mind”. Intro plays with a little faint crackle before clearing up well.)

Bobby Hebb – Evil woman – Crystal Ball / EX / £65 (Funky soul with jazzy undertones. Like all copies I’ve seen of this it has a pen mark on the label together with two X. This copy also has a vintage price sticker that should be easy to remove.)

Ben E. King – We got love – Atlantic / EX / £10 (Classic Philly dance soul which is a bit tricky to find as it’s only found on the rarer issue copies.)
Jerry Butler – High stepper – Mercury / VG+ / £8 (Excellent 1974 dancer with a moody feel. Flipside has two stars on it written with a filt pen. Record has a few superficial marks, plays well.)
Lonnie Youngblood – Sweet sweet tootie – Turbo / EX / £6 (Nice crossover using a similiar backing to Hesitations “Is this the way to treat a girl” and Willie & West’s “Attica massacre”.)

New Young Hearts – The Young Hearts get lonely too – Zea / EX / £8 (One of my fave sweet soul ballads, hits the right spot everytime. Flip ain’t bad either.)
Metros – Sweetest one – Rca / EX/EX £85 (Classic Detroit album! So many great tracks and many not available on 45 either. Title track, “Since I found my baby”, “I’ll never forget you”, “Do the Pied Piper”, “Till the end of time” is the standouts to me.)
Metros – Sweetest one – Rca / VG+/VG+ £70 (Classic Detroit album! So many great tracks and many not available on 45 either. Title track, “Since I found my baby”, “I’ll never forget you”, “Do the Pied Piper”, “Till the end of time” is the standouts to me. Cover just shy of EX, has one creased corner and some damage to title spine. Vinyl some light inaudible sleeve marks.)
Gene Chandler – The girl don’t care – Brunswick / S/S / £50 (Still sealed copy! Cover has small cut out hole. Great album including “Nothing can stop me”, “Bet you never thought”, “Here comes the tears” and more.)
Fabulous Conti Family – Family power – KM / EX/EX / £35 (Very indie album including the catchy modern soul/disco dancer “You’ve got me going baby”. Signed + dedication on back cover.)

Spellbinders – The magic of – Columbia / EX/EX / £30 (Lovely Van McCoy produced album. Including “A little on the blue side”, “Chain reaction” and my fave “We’re acting like lovers”. Stereo copy with cover still in shrink, shrink has vintage price sticker.)
Eddie Kendricks – People… hold on – Tamla / VG+/EX / £25 (Classic 1972 album that is rarer, and better, than his others. With the title track, “Date with the rain”, 7:30 version of “Girl you need a change of mind” and more. Vinyl has a few superficial sleeve marks but plays fine.)
Dells – Love connection – Mercury / EX/EX / £10 (Including the awesome Philly dancer “Don’t trick me, treat me”. Small vintage price sticker on front cover that should be easily removed, but adds charm and a piece of history IMO.)
Rita Graham – Vibrations – Tangerine / EX/EX / £10 (Nice clean copy of this album containing the excellent crossover dancer “My cup runneth over”. Superb vocals, a great all-nighter sound. A track that was never released on 7 inch at the time of the release. :))
Al Wilson – La la peace song – Rocky Road / EX/EX / £8 (Including the great midtempo album only dancer “Fifty-fifty”. This track really has a lasting quality, to me his best.)
Chuck Mangione – Eyes of the veiled temptress – Columbia / EX/EX / £6 (Pretty lame 1988 smooth jazz/fusion album but holds the killer 2 stepper “Do you ever think about me?” with vocals from Rob Mathes.)

Gradings
NM – spotless record. One grading I don’t really use – one tiny mark/scuff/flame/scratch and it’s EX. Many new records will not make this grade.
EX – Basically everything that will look and play great.
VG+ – Will have marks that may very moderately affect play. Might have fairly large amount cosmetic marks not affecting play.
VG – Lots of marks, should still play fairly well but not perfect.
VG- – Lots and lots of marks, see description on how it plays.
