Hello and welcome to the July sales list. I hope each and every one of you are enjoying your summer! A bit shorter list this time around but some real nice discs under all sections. Mostly 45’s but you’ll also find three great and collectible 12 inchers at the end.
For those of you who prefers their music for free I’ve added a new two step mix on my Mixcloud account. Nice, mellow and soulful, find it here.
As always please PM to reserve. All records are on a first come, first serve basis and alot of them gets ordered very quickly.
For paypal payments please make sure both currency fields are GBP, I don’t want to receive payments in SEK nor in USD. And for orders over £150 please send payment as gift or add 4% to cover fees.
Best Regards, Karl
Modern Soul & Crossover Soul 45’s
Jus’ Us – Just us together – Annthonette / EX / £1300 (Absolutely fantastic semi instrumental dancer out of Akron, Ohio. Infectious horns! 2:37 down to business version backed with a 5:10 one which is the one I prefer. Very nice and clean copy of this super rare trophy piece.)
Myxx – Don’t ever leave me / Mixed up – Mark Custom / EX / £700 (Super rare 1984 release. Superb boogie/modern dancer. Backed with an intense spacy ballad which is a real grower. Very nice clean copy.)
Compacts – Call her / You’ve got to get it – Bun Bea / VG+ / £700 (Rare and fabulous Detroit soul. Group harmony heaven. Crossover with a group harmony interest on one side, a more funky soul mid tempo track on the other. This is a nice VG+ with a slight warp and some light marks, plays and looks great. Usually seen in trashed condition.)
Bonnevilles – Play it cool / I’ll be right there – Now / EX / £200 (Amazing group soul with a crossover feel. Flip is equally good but slower. Had lots of orders for the last copy I listed so raised the price by £20 here.)
Robert Moore – Tears of the world – Blue Candle / EX / £125 (Killer Miami funk/soul that got a rather lame cover the other year. Label has cut out hole, comes in TK sleeve.)
Magic Night – If you and I had never met – Roulette / EX / £125 (Indemand and lovely Philly styled modern soul dancer. Nice clean copy complete with company sleeve.)
Benny Troy – I wanna give you tomorrow – De-Lite / EX / £100 (Classic! An atmospheric evergreen. With 3:56 and 5:00 versions, shorter one has a small numbered sticker on label.)
Windy City – Just for you / I still love you – Kelli-Arts / EX / £30 (Ultra soulful Chicago two step backed with a smouldering ballad. Slight warp not affecting play.)
Curtis Reed – Exit 23 – Hoshii / EX / £15 (Rather fantastic piece of two step that was reissued by Expansion closely following it’s 1985 release. One to play alongside Lonnie Hill “Galveston Bay” for the smoothest of smooth effect.)
Soul Children – Can’t give up a good thing – Stax / EX / £6 (Rather great and under the radar Groovesville modern soul dancer. Here on the most desirable format – US vinyl copy.)
Cavril Payne – When I open my eyes – Ruval / VG+ / £100 (Killer NS dancer with a jazzy feel. Very rare on LP, this 45 is even more seldom seen. Mis-print with the title reading “When I open my mind”. Vinyl has a few light marks, plays a little crackly in the intro then clears out fine.)
Andy Marshall – Love transplant of your love Pt. 1 / Pt. 2 – Vida / EX / £60 (Funky soul dancer out of LA that sold for almost three times this on Tim Brown auction end of last year. B-side has small mark from removed sticker.)
Rev. Stanley Keeble & the Voices of Triumph – Can’t you love – Sound of Soul / EX / £ 30 (1974 funky Gospel dancer with some powerful backing vocals. Song title has been corrected with marker pen.)
Shirelles – There’s a storm going on in my heart – Blue Rock / EX / £20 (Rather awesome NS dancer with hip hop drums. And a rather tricky one to find, usually seen on UK Mercury. Nice clean copy complete with company sleeve, but has bb hole through label.)
Free Mind – After we’re gone – Twin Town / NM / £20 (Lookalike Numero reissue of this great funky soul dancer. Super rare and super expensive on original.)
Bobby Keys – Gimmie the key – Ring O’ / EX / £8 (Funky dancefloor workout, here in demo with 2:34 version on both sides. Small writing on one label side.)
Peace On Earth, P.O.E. – Love foundation – Chat Town / EX / £150 (Absolutely beautiful and absolutely essential group soul ballad. Rare 1976 Chattanooga, Tennessee release.)
Calif. Malibus – I stand alone / Love in my life – M&M / EX / £125 (Nice clean copy of this sweet soul monster that’s the theme song for the infamous Fellony Fights series. Flip is a nice modern soul dancer. There’s a tiny bit of label wear around the edge of he ballad side.)
X-Cessors – Silent weapon / Boog – LuTall / VG- / £125 (Very rare, very good and very sought after group soul ballad. 1974 Long Beach, CA release. Labels are reversed. Funk side plays ok, the ballad a bit crackly mostly prominent in the first part of the song. Sound clip is from the actual copy for sale and has not been digitally enhanced.)
Depths of Love – I just can’t find a love – Sage / EX / £100 (Absolutely beautiful girl group slowie. The copies that appeared a few years back has disappeared into collections and now seldom offered for sale)
