Something I was wondering about, for no particular reason..

Jimmy Castor 'Hey Leroy Your Mama's Callin' You', came out on UK Philips in 1966 and that's always been a fairly common release so it must have sold well or steadily on catalogue. Then it came out again on UK Mercury in 1971.

I don't think I have heard of it being played on the rare soul scene at the time (or since for that matter) and it doesn't sound to me the sort of thing that would have fitted at the time. But 71 was also when Tams, Tami Lynn, Fascinations, etc got re-released. So am I wrong? If not, who was playing / buying it and why the re-release?
