Denise Chandler – Yes I’m ready / You’ve hurt me now – Lock / EX / £25 (Killer version of the Barbara Mason classic. I used this one as the intro for my latest mix. Flip ain’t bad either.)

Rock Candy – I don’t think I’ll ever love another / Alone with no love – Dontee / VG+ / £150 (Rare white demo of this popular double header. One lowrider classic, the original to Darling Dears with less boom crashing drums, and one NS Mecca era classic. Delvons – Girls get ready (Here we come) – Pato / EX (w/ warp) / £100 (Real nice group harmonies once you get pass the intro which uses a tad too much organ for my taste. Rare 1974 release. Record has a warp which is not sharp so it plays nicely along my Technics 1210/Shure M44G with 1,5g tracking. £500 at the raresoulman.co.uk website.)
Harlem Meat Company – I’m not gonna be anybody’s fool – Cash / EX / £90 (Rarer yellow label 45 of this Chicago killer. Group soul harmony at it’s best.)

Radiations – Love be not a stranger – Valise / VG+ / £15 (Very nice group soul harmonies on this obscure sweet soul ballad. Vinyl looks clean but the pressing is a little bit crackly hence the VG+ grading.)
James T – Beggin’ / Time heals all pain – Reid’s World / EX / £10 (Superb 1977 deep soul on Clarence Reid private label. Flip is a nice midtempo modern instrumental.)
Margie Alexander – What’cha tryin’ to do to me / Gotta get a hold on me – Chi-Sound/UA / EX / £10 (Lovely slowie backed with disco. Disco label side has small sticker. )
Fred Johnson – Full time dream – Capri / EX / £8 (Gold label copy of this dreamy Mod-Art style ballad, essential stuff! Small tear on “Full time dream” label side and a price sticker on the flip. Flipside ain’t too bad either.)
Sam Butler – I can’ get over (Loving you) – SRI / EX / £200 (Classic and smooth modern soul with a two step feel. White label DJ copy, original with the “Mastered by Capitol” stamp in the run out, most copies of this you see is the bootleg.)
Charles Summerville – I’m gonna dial this number – Chas / VG / £100 (One of the best mid 1980’s ballads I’ve heard, just stunning. Super rare Flint, Michigan modern soul. Record is signed by the artist, who also boasts to sing and play all instruments on the label. Record has marks and it plays with occasional background crackles, my old copy as I just upgraded with a cleaner one.)

Cash – Hot thang / I know you care – Casbar / EX / £45 (Reissue of the indemand boogie dancer, instrumental and vocal versions. But also holds the previously unissued “I know you care”.)
Lew Kirton – Heaven in the afternoon – T.K. Disco / EX/VG+ / £30 (Classic modern soul from the Invitations lead singer. Vinyl is clean but company sleeve has ring wear and weaker end of VG+.)
Topics – Wanted live by million girls – NCS / EX/VG+ / £500 (Lovely album here! Modern dancers in “Keep dancin’”, “Man” and “Rose”, awesome sweet soul in “Choice of a million girls”. Vinyl is clean but has a very slight warp not affecting play. Cover is overall very nice but there’s some very light wear to the edges and back has a couple of small stains. Back has been signed by the artist.)
Ambassadors – Soul summit – Arctic / EX/NM / £300 (Classic rare soul album filled to the brim with great group soul cuts in all tempos. Truly as new copy here, no flaws.)
Lovelites – With love from – Uni / EX/VG+ / £200 (Essential soul album with solid listening from start to finish. Vinyl is super clean, cover just shy of EX with just a hint of ring wear.)
Tommy Tate – Hold on – Vivid/Malaco / EX/EX / £160 (1979 japanese only LP with the previously unissued monsters “I can’t do enough for you baby” and “Do you think there’s a chance”. As new copy complete with insert.)
V/A – Brief Encounter with sweet soul music – P-Vine / EX/EX / £150 (Japanese compilation from 1988 which holds a bunch of great tracks from Brief Encounter, Allison, Imperial Wonder and Continental Showstoppers. Main interest comes from the incredible ballad “Where will I go” by Brief Encounter which was previously unreleased before appearing here. Complete with insert and OBI. OBI has been opened and has wrinkles on back.)
Garnet Mimms – As long as I have you – United Artists / EX/EX / £90 (Great early soul LP. The whole album is nice listening throughout with dancer standouts being the title track, “There goes my baby” and “Tell me baby”. Super clean/minty mono copy.)
Four Mints – Gently down your stream – Capsoul / EX/NM / £90 (Green/white label copy of this classic rare soul album. Filled with group soul goodies such as “Why did I go” and “You’re my desire”.)
Peace, Justice and Equality – It’s time – Stone Gold / EX/EX / £60 (Rare soul album featuring to me the best version of essential mellow groove cut “Of all the hearts”. Don’t miss out the sublime sweet soul cuts in the title track and in “I done you wrong”. As new condition apart from a light scuff on a-side which is not affecting play.)
Garland Green – Spring sides – Kent / EX/EX / £45 (1990 compilation featuring both released and previously unissued stuff. Previously unissued standouts in “Come through me”, “Just what the doctor ordered” and a spoken intro take of “Just loving you” which just crushes the released 45 version.)
Larry Saunders – The prophet of soul – Soul International / EX/VG / £40 (Essential album! Solid listening throughout with personal standouts in “This world”, “This is my prayer” and “Darling I love you”. This album came out three times, first with plain sleeve on the Sound of Soul label. Then remixed versions on Soul International entitled “Stranger” then here as “The prophet of soul”. Vinyl is clean, sleeve looks good but has partial upper seam split and a cut out saw mark.)
Mildred Clark & the Melody-Aires – 2000 years – ABC / EX/EX / £30 (With the classy modern/gospel dancer “Keep trying”. Nice clean copy with sleeve still in shrink.)
Exportations – Meet the Exportations – United Artists / EX/VG+ / £12 (With the killer LP only track “Fell in love too late”. A dancer for grown ups. Cut corner, sleeve also has part split on lower mid seam.)
Chairmen of the Board – In session – Invictus / VG+/EX / £8 (Their second LP. Filled with hits like “Everything’s Tuesday” but the main thing with this LP to me is the album only killer “All we need is understanding” that will freshen up any DJ set. Set that intro on repeat! Vinyl is clean apart from a couple of inaudible scuffs on b-side.)
Millie Jackson & Isaac Hayes – Royal rappin’s – Polydor / VG+/VG+ / £5 (With their LP only cover of “Sweet music, soft lights, and you”, two step/rare groove delight! LP has a few sleeve marks but plays well. Cover has a couple of creases.)
