There is a 45rpm by Wally Cox on Arvee from the early 60s ; do you think that it's the same guy (from Oakland, CA) who recorded for Lama Records/George Records, Cordon Records, Wand? Also a prolific West Coast songwriter (Shoe Publishing Co.) and a friend of Marvin Gaye. Thanks!

It's the same singer . There was a thread on Wally Cox a few years back so you might want to look in Soul source Archive which explored the possibilities.

However Steve Guarnori in his seminal and fascinating book 'Scepter Wand Forever' (2016 pages 369 - 370 } has written about the Wally Cox on Arvee and followed his career as an arranger, producer and occasional recording artist . He's the same Wally Cox that recorded the wonderful 'This Man' on Wand for Gene Chandler and the record on George you have highlighted.

I'll leave Stevie G to tell you more.

You can discard Wally Cox, 'the yodelling pom' who cut a stellar version of  'There's a Tavern In The Town'.
