i'm not gonna name names (pm me if you wanna know who it is).....
a few months ago i put a t-shirt on the site, wih a guy's face and name. now this is always a risk, coyright wise, as sometimes no one will mind, and other times you might get an email saying take it down. (i once had an email from a lawyer representing AOL because we'd used the same acronym for something else, but i digress...).
this time i got an email from the singer whose face/name i'd used. i explained to him that the site turns over dozens rather hundreds or even 1000s of dollars, and he emailed me back saying 'ok then, put the t-shirt back on, send me some figures, and you can be my official distributor in he UK'.
fooking great i thought, so i sent him some figures, which were, 100% of all profit from these t-shirts was to go to him.
then without warning, a few days later, i get an email from spreadshirt (the t-shirt printers) saying there has been a copyright infringement and i have to remove this design!
confused? well i was.
it was one of my favourite songs too, and now i can't even listen to it!!
not nice when yer heroes muck you around. although you could argue with force that i'd deserved it.
