The very essence of these tapes is that they capture the atmosphere, I wouldn't want any of mine cleaned up really, when I wanted to hear just the music I recorded them off the top of the speakers at the front of the stage.

I remember seeing a stereo system perched on top of the speakers as you look at the stage from the dance floor on your right. I could only afford a little mono gismo thing but it never really gets you back to that original big Wigan sound.

I would get my favourite record I had been after for weeks, take it home and play it and be so disappointed that it sounded like a little recording done in a match box, then sell it the next week.
