What's the story behind JJ Barnes using the alias Jay rhythm? i know his middle name was jay but why did he need an alias? I know he had a rocky career for a while was a it an attempt at a re-launch?

I thought JAY RHYTHM was JAMES BARNES ( & THE AGENTS) and not J J BARNES.

i was reading a couple of biographies where i got the basic info, born James Jay Barnes and later recorded for Leo as Jay Rhythm (JJ Barnes/James Thorpe) 1n 1970. This was as much as I could find and it aroused my curiosity. There was obviously stuff between when he was born and 1970 but it was the Jay Rhythm bit that i was curious about!!
