Has anyone been to the "Story of the Supremes" exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum? Although it's basically a collection of the Supremes' stage outfits there is a lot more to it as it covers black history in the US (segregation etc.), Martin Luther King, Motown's history and ethos and girl groups in general. I thoroughly recommend it. This year I've been fortunate to visit the MLK museum in Atlanta and the Stax Museum - in terms of history the V&A exhibit is as good a precis of these as you will find in the UK.
Slightly off topic but we also went to see "The Jersey Boys" at the Price Edward theatre (Northern Soul? - well I remember dancing to "Opus 17" in the late 60's! Not forgetting of course "You're Ready Now!!) Make a weekend of it! Theatre Saturday Night, V&A Sunday morning!
