  1. Mike Russell, the culture minister, said:

"We are certainly a listening government and try to keep in the groove. But it's up to the national collection bodies to decide what objects they want to acquire."
...the missing words are "...but as usual, we won't take any notice" after "listening government"

  3. Wow so you (Smiffy) were actively collecting in the Sixties? Do you still have any I wonder that you bought when you were 8/9?

I can't be the only one in here who's still got pretty much all the records he's ever bought.

I started in 1964 with E.M.I. record tokens I got for my 11th. birthday in June. These are the first two records I ever bought - they're still in their (admittedly battered) original sleeves and I still treasure them:

I picked up DAYBREAK back in '75, having heard it on (probably) Dave Symmonds BBC Radio 1 show. I don't think I ever heard it anywhere else on the radio and maybe just the once. I never heard it whenever I went out (not that often, I'll admit) and it's the only tune I have by them - the B side is Bobby McLure ~ YOU BRING OUT THE LOVE IN ME.

The only thing that strikes me about it is that it could be a slice of blue-eyed Soul.

    Any info appreciated:

On this label? (forgive my ignorance) - mine has MR in a circle stamped on it and "M# 117" and separately "100300-X" preceded by a triangle hand-scratched.

The disch isn't that thick, the label sees to be solidly stuck on the record.

  6. From Tapir's:

CS 7085 The Sound Dimension - Soul Trombone // Lloyd & Randolph - It Ain't

    Produced by Coxson Dodd

    1969

I have both these sides on separate CDs - I don't have Winston Francis doing YOUR CHEATING HEART. However, I know that Winston Francis was either "Lloyd" or "Randolph", so it's either the exact same tune or Winston Francis did a re-work of it at some time

    Hope that helps...

  7. Don't remember seeing her on RSG but I do seem to recall seeing her on "Thank Your Lucky Stars", weaving in and our of giant lollipops while miming to it!
...even more memorable (IMHO) for Janice "Oi'll give it foive!" Nichol(l)s (from Wednesbury) and her regular appearances cool.gifcool.gif
  8. I can't remember, GM - but I probably watched it (de rigeur viewing in our house) and would place it during the Spring of 1964 - MBL entered the various UK charts in March of that year.
