  1. They are the future maybe....

Seems a shame but many niters suffer from crowds drifting off after 3/ 4am..

Maybe better a good mini than a real one tails off..

    Food for thought...

Yes, but even though one drifts away at 3ish one can still maintain the kudos that comes with only attending allnighters......................

  2. How come after all these years that nothing has ever replaced the all-nighters at Wigan?

We had The Wheel, The Torch, Wigan Casino . . . then nothing!

There have been plenty of pretenders, but nothing of continuety. . .why?

There have been so called Wigan's 30th anniv. but it died in 1981. How can you have an aniversary after the event?

Is it a Big un you want or a weekly one.

I asked on here a while back if a weekliy allnighter would attract a following..............

a solid NO was the answer..

  6. I'm surprised you haven't mentioned te one in your avatar. Although my fave is probably Black Moses.

One of my all time favorites is

Gene Mc Daniels - Headless Heroes Of The Apocalypse. Don't own an original copy yet, but it's one of the best albums: funky, jazzy, folky... Excellent.

Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes - Wake Up Everybody is a personal favorite also.

And Gene Chandler & Jerry Butler - One On One. How can you go wrong with these two?

I'll have to dig it out and give it another listen. From memory, I felt it was a bit disappointing

  7. plenty of white demo's about but has anyone ever seen or owned a v.i.p. coloured issue?. released 1965, the canadian's first effort at chart success in his own right ( he had already been taken under the songwriting wing of HDH), it flopped as did 67's there's a ghost in my house. definitely the rarer of the two, it appears devoid of a well distributed issue, probably because from the point of view of the lyrics, it posed a contentious issue to middle aged americans, who still viewed "juveniles" as unruly and needing to be put in their place, hence the rebellious statement taylor was making.....ironically, it predated the summer of free love and the hippy culture by two years.

    Yes, (seen loads)

    Mentioned it before , but.

There used to be a record stall on Shudehill market with row upon row of allsorts, when Ghost in my House was at it's peak there were loads of this on there at 20p(ish) a pop,,As it wasn't GIMH it got left.

    Until

Let's Go Somewhere got played out, then it vanished..................and I still never got one :hatsoff2:

  12. The Triumph Toledo had different rear lights to that of a Dolomite or 2000 .

The one in the photograph outside WC is either a TD or a 2000 .

I had a white J Reg TD in 1975 , and had to check it was not mine that was in the photograph  .

    Malc

    Always fancied a Dolomite Sprint,

    Never happened

  13. I have no idea, I don't know what it means at all.

When I first started reading Blues and Soul, A Crossover record was one that made it in the Pop charts, especially in the US, in other words had crossed over from being a Soul Hit (or C&W) to making it in the mainstream.

Nowadays it seems to mean any record slower than Mid Tempo huh.gif

  14. I was selling some records one night, biggish stuff at the time, he pulled 5 or 6 out & asked if he could pay for the after his spot. Ok i said,
