    Hi Baz

The Strides - Make Your Move is a bit funky yes.gif and has a James Brown reference in the lyrics - will post it up later on

Got both sides ready to go Baz but Refosoul is down I think.

Also got Family Plann - a slightly funky Jackson's style thing with a mid-tempo number of the flip. Will post those too later on.

Probably one of the lesser-known decent releases on the label and a nice crossover-style make vocal

Will post up a soundfile later - unless someone beats me to it yes.gif

Jason Steel - You Know Your Breaking My Heart/Suppose (M-S 233)

  6. This one also from Refosoul yes.gif

Strides - I Can Get Along (Without Your Love) (M-S 202)

THE STRIDES - I CAN GET ALONG (WITHOUT YOUR LOVE) -

  7. The Strides - I Can Get Along (Without Your Love)/The Stride (M-S 202)

'The Stride' is the instrumental version of the top-side.

The WDJ is more common than the yellow issue pictured below I think.

Great Detroit male group sound thumbsup.gif

A great collectors label this with some true Detroit soul classics on it.

That blue sunburst design on the later releases is really cool looking yes.gif

If you are a bit of a 'completist' collector like me you also have to have the dodgy releases to make up the full run - there are some really poor 'party' records on this label sad.gif .

Will post up some label scans and soundfiles over the next few days, but to kick things off here are a couple of scans of two of my favourites on the label.

    Louis Curry - Captivated/You're Sweeter Than A Cup Of Honey (M-S 210)

  9. may i also add, with regards the name "gene", i would have to agree with the possibility it could be gene redd...many, many productions and lyrical credits....just off the top of my head, did he not also produce roy handy and shirley scott on stephaney?

Correct with the Shirley J Scott and Roy Handy 45s - plus also the Prophets release on Stephanye.

Also Golden World - e.g. Tamiko Jones - Spellbound - and Ric-Tic e.g. Fantastic Four - (I've Got To) Live Up To What She Thinks.

    Cheers

A big thanks for all the comments on this one guys - really interesting stuff and much appreciated thumbsup.gif

I also got some really useful feedback from Canada and from a number of well-known Detroit collectors - with a mix of views on this one. The only thing that everyone I spoke to agreed on is that they hadn't seen it before.

I think the majority view was that it is probably an original issue and most likely a legit forerunner to the later deal with Quality Records in Canada - in much the same way as the London deal went for the UK release.

I'm very grateful especially to John Manship for looking at this one for me. John was guesting on Dean Anderson's Northern Soul radio show here in Newark during the week, and so as a local lad I was able to pop down with the 45.

John's view, with the 45 in hand and looking at the paper/vinyl etc., was that it is a definite 60s original - which is good enough for me - and obviously I'm pretty chuffed with that biggrin.gif

    Cheers

  11. Thank you - now sorted!

And having looked back at my original thread I remembered that CIRCA company bag I had saved to put it in thumbsup.gif

Soul-Source 'wants' defo did it for me this time

    Cheers

  12. Great label choice Roger thumbsup.gif

I'm missing a Bobby Williams which is this one:

    50016 - Bobby Williams - I'll Hate Myself Tomorrow / The Last Time - 196?

Who can post info, scans etc. or sell me one please?

    Cheers

    Richard
