  1. not here it ain't, played a clip and it opened in the same window (replacing the forum if you like) and again reduced the size of the window too. If no pop up player why can't it open in a new tab or window.

Just checked myself again Chalky with Pete's clip above using the pop up icon.... pop up player worked here....

Also tried your last played clip under your avatar.... that also worked fine....

  2. It's working Mike!

Yep.... it did open your tune for me Pete but it wasn't as a popup.... sorry Mike....

It opened in same window and made original window smaller, i.e. size of player....

I then had to hit the back button to get back to this thread after it ended, and the window obviously remained smaller....

I do hope the Forum Upgrade is not like the "usual" Microsoft upgrades tho Mike....

You know.... the ones that are done, issued and passed on before being fully tested.... meaning lots of glitches keep happening rolleyes.gif ....

Either way.... glitches or not.... keep up the good work pal :P ....

I've said this before you can't read it following the upgrade Mike :(:D:lol: .... and what's the old saying.... oh yeh.... "don't fix what ain't broke"

Thanks for your comments, I did not know you couldn't delete your watched items. We shall have that rectified ASAP (with 24 hours). There is obviously gonna be some glitches on a project of this size, the site took over 4 months to construct it is very complexed, but probklems are being ironed out very quickly . The auction "overload" and all the other little probs have now been sorted.

Hey John.... the minor glitches are no real big deal to such a major overhaul as you are actually picking up on them and are doing something about them.... unlike other sites, ebay to name one....

I only noticed the delete issue this morning John when I thought I'd delete the ended items whilst on site.... so thought I'd mention it....

The end prices will be available as part of our information subscription area to be launched later this year. Everty auction final price, scan and write up going back years and years will be available. One of the reasons we don't list end prices is we don't want other similiar sites or projects "lifting" our info and using it before we can launch our new project.

I suspected this was now built in to the site.... can't say I blame you due to "lifting" issues.... nice to know it is soon to be available though....

Why people want to bid last minute is puzzling, as it's all Proxy bidding and you'll only pay one increment over your nearest bidder. So why not bid early then forget it. Those who did or do certainly have won some bargains lately. Bidding late seems to alert others to "join" in, and then we know what happens.

Maybe, just maybe, their top proxy bid gets overtaken and so "have to" bid again....

Bit like the mentality you see on ebay sometimes.... the "win at all costs" single-mindedness that takes over in bidding wars....

Thanks to everyone for being so patient during this transition to the new site

    john

No, thank you for the years of service to this scene of ours John thumbsup.gif ....

    https://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEb...K:ME:LNLK:MESEX

Try this - above works for me? From my PC - weird? Or search seller louisjoe - only 12 items...

    M

Still doesn't work Mark because it's the link to MyEbay page.... which of course will show the sales list of items in your MyEbay page as your the seller.... it takes us to our own MyEbay pages....

Here's the one you want pal....

    https://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/louisjoe

In future Mark, the best bet is to open an item.... click on the "view other items for sale" link.... then copy and paste that URL :P ....

or better still just write down the link above as it's your sales page rolleyes.gif ....

initial question was "MANSHIP FINISHING PRICES" so please ,are we gonna get em or what g.gif

Sorry Nev.... as one of the people who used to list them, they now seem unavailable.... and I have tried various means over the last couple of days with no joy....

With the old site you could still access the pages of the auctions after they had finished.... ALL of them going back over the years, whether you'd bid or not....

With this new site the page disappears after the auction closes.... just appears as below....

Whether or not an item page is still visable if you've actually placed a bid, I dunno.... but even items in the new "Your Watch Section", although still visible as a list of items, are then not visible when you click "more info".... displays same as picture above....

FAO John.... as an aside, there is an oversight with the site at the moment re watched items.... there doesn't seem to be a way of deleting a "watched item" after that item ends.... you have the option when it's still ongoing but not when it's ended.... I find that strange.... any ideas?.... something to be addressed?....

Maybe it's all something to do with how it's now built.... or maybe it's something that has been built in on purpose to stop these threads and the debates on prices that ensue....

It seems a shame though, as it was always nice to know what a record ended up at....

  7. I've just been on and couldn't access the auction items....also tried to log in...got the email....hit the link....put in my details......site said there was an error?????

I'll try again another day..... rolleyes.gif

It did that with me Phil.... said there was an error (in red across top) after hitting update link in email and entering info....

I just retyped my password in (as that had gone blank) and tried hitting update button again.... it then came up on a page stating update was successful (in red across top).... so maybe a glitch on first press of update button.... dunno....

  8. The Dimension 45 is a real 'collectors' goodie. Both sides are worthy!

"My Shoes" is an old early hour Rod spin @ Thorne.

"Sweetheart" I had covered (for my sins) at Bradford.

    Really Sean.... what as....

    Thanks Gareth,

I've done a quick bit of surfing and there appears to be only a couple more he released under his own name:

"How Many Nights" / "How Can We Ever Be Together" (Liberty #55459) (1962)

"My Shoes Keep Walking Back To You" / "I Want You For My Sweetheart" (Dimension #1043)

I have actually seen these listed before but guess they may be too early 'R&B' sounding rather than soul - but I could be wrong.

John.... you've mentioned this one in your original list.... so just the Liberty release to add on  ....

p.s. I have it somewhere if you wanted sound clips of both sides....

Are there any other 'flip side first' people out there or am I just plain old crazy.

    I'd like a second opinion!

    Regards

    Kev

Yep, everytime.... curiosity always has got the better of me but only because I know what the side I've bought it for is like so would like to be surprised....

Sadly not surprised as often as I'd like to be because there's some really dire flips out there laugh.gif ....

Very good, I enjoyed reading that....I never realised that the oldies thing started so far back. Hard to believe, when you consider the quality stuff that was still being discovered at that time, and after, with the Stafford era etc. :)

It is quite ironic that those words of yesteryear or still very much relevant today but I don't think it was so much "the oldies thing" per se Phil.... more like the origins of the "I like what I know and I know what I like" mentality....

It's strange how a lot of, if not all, the "alternative" 60's tunes that Sam mentions in the piece are now part of the present day "I like what I know and I know what I like" scene, or "same old same old" and "top 500" nights as often referred to these days....

So with that, perhaps the more underplayed or alternative sounds of today will be part of the "I like what I know and I know what I like" mentality scene in another decade or so  ....

Mind you, I have to smile at his references to the current funk and disco of those days, in the last paragraph, from someone who plays house type stuff (today's disco) on the scene today  ....

Good point Pete. Reggae scene's the same as well. Just compare some of the Ska stuff you like to some of the current Dancehall stuff that gets played now - poles apart.

Thing is with the Northern & Modern scene's there's a sticky middle ground.

Take for example something like Benny Troy - I Wanna Give You Tomorrow.

To the die hard Northern punter it's classed as Modern but to the Modern punter it's classed as Northern (cue some pond life saying it's Disco sh1te  ).

These days most Modern venues now advertise as "70's to Y2K".... so that's saying Modern venues "pick" which 70's and Xover tunes are Modern and which are Northern....

Personally not sure how opening up a playlist backwards to include 30+ year old tunes (70's and Xover) can still be classed as a Modern nite in the true sense.... seems this advertising practice came about when most Modern fans were saying good new releases where not being produced as often as once was....

So with this both sides will always meet....

    It's all opinions of course thumbsup.gif ....

Oh, and I'm not including that boom boom house stuff in this which the Modern boys just pinched from today's kids  ....
