The Importance Of Melba Moore's The Magic Touch
I liked the one where the bloke danced to Marva Josie 'Don't' Can anyone post that up?

New Pressings W Dinkable Centres
Thanks Pete, it's Cherry Red songs, maybe summat to do with them. If I had his number and a time machine I could ask old Northern Soulie Shelvo, he lived in the same block of flats as Laurel. They probably shared cheroots.

Thanks Bob, that's amazing that a US company would press UK style singles. The shipping costs might prohibit us using them though. I'll try Timmion direct but a UK company should be cheaper. Ta Ady

Ben E King & Gerri Granger Acetates
Fantastic "Monique" that's surprised me a lot, at least I know not to trust my memory. Simsy, I owe your ex an apology and you keep dating things by old girlfriends!

Nearly, its a CD celebrating 30 years of Kent so I'm doing the history now which is a bit vague for some reason!

They were both from the same find so would be at the same time, I'd have thought that a bit early but maybe.

The Importance Of Melba Moore's The Magic Touch
Good point in terms of quality Dave but was it as influential at its peak?

Anyone remember what year I started playing these at the 100 Club? It was mid to late 90s.

The Importance Of Melba Moore's The Magic Touch
Great record Pete but isn't that an example of a massive tune? How many of those would say it got them into Northern and they stayed with it; I know quite a few say that about Magic Touch.

The Importance Of Melba Moore's The Magic Touch
I'm doing my usual trumpet blowing, but can anyone think of a record that has recruited more people to the Northern scene than this one? I'm very much including Europe as I think it had an even bigger impact there. Feel free to shoot me down in flames but put points objectively rather than subjectively; not each person's individual road to Damascus (not in the Bob Hope series). Actually Frank Wilson's more influential but was it as pivotal in actually geting people onto the scene? Ady

Whatever Happened To Georgina Arch Deacon?
But bottled it when invited to play for the 100 Club Soul Brothers v The Legendary Harboro Taverners on the occasion of celebrating my 60th year. Incidentally the Soul Brothers featuring Winston, Bob Lee and Charlie Rees won the game by some incredibly underhanded rule manipulations which would have made Simon Soussain proud.

Whatever Happened To Georgina Arch Deacon?
She was at Cleethorpes with her lovely husband Phil and Tracy and Glenda. On fine form and still loopy. Still in E Anglia. Adam's got her number if you wanna contact her, pm me. Ady

Lilian Lopez (Odyssey) Rip
Looking For A Way Out is in my top 5 ballads of all time. I'll never see her sing it live now; just as well I'd probably dissolve; very sad news.
