Hole Too Big
I’ve had this issue before. Dependent on the extent of the pressing error, I use a TINY strategically placed dot on the label right at the edge of the centre at the point where the label and the adapter touch, and place the record there. Fine if at home, not so after a few pints on the decks in a dimly lit club I must admit.

Soul Reflections: 45rpm Singles / EP Pic Covers (ebook)
Soul Reflections: 45rpm Singles and EP Picture Covers (Soul Artists 1960-1971) ebook / PDF - by E. Mark Windle ***£4.99 - Order via link below*** The popularity of 1960s soul music globally is evidenced by the vast range of releases of US soul records in other countries. With the resurgence of interest in 1960s soul and R&B throughout Europe and elsewhere, these formats have now taken on an appeal of their own. Picture covers carry intrinsic historical value. Cover art may consist of photographic images of artists, use a stylistic approach, or a combination of both. Where photographic portraits are presented, in some cases they provide the only known images of lesser known soul artists. Around 150 picture covers are presented from the US but also Europe, UK, Japan and other countries. Each record carries a footnote of points of historical interest. This book should appeal to all lovers of soul music including collectors of classic , northern / rare soul, Motown and blue eyed soul. 1975: A Year in the Life of NS (book)
1975: A Year in the Life of Northern Soul - a new book by Tim Brown. HUGE seller over Christmas, and now back in stock! ***Order via link below*** In the author's words: The first ever detailed look at one specific year in the history of Northern Soul focuses on its most important one. It was the year when seventies soul was embraced to sit alongside traditional sixties stompers in all dancehalls and venues such as Cleethorpes Pier and The Ritz, Manchester, as all-dayers took a hold on the scene. Wigan Casino and the Blackpool Mecca remained as twin towers of the nightlife, however. Television, radio, and newspapers were fascinated by the ultimate underground music scene and this book analyses their interest. Tim Brown, author of "The Wigan Casino Years", details the events, stories and discoveries as they unfolded, many of which are recounted for the first time. A definitive account of a year in the life of Northern Soul, richly illustrated in full gloss colour (hardback, new, 208 pages). SOUL IN PRINT (BOOK) BY IAN McCARTNEY
Soul In Print. A History of Soul Music Fanzines and Magazines - book by Iain McCartney Order via link below The blurb: Soul music remains the biggest 'underground' music scene in the world with each weekend, pre-Covid19, seeing countless soul nights and weekenders fill the diaries. Records, on often obscure labels, change hands regularly for four figure sums. But for many to learn about those 'four-figure' tracks and those who recorded them, they have had to rely on countless diehards on the scene. Those who seek out details of an artist's career and compile discographies of the labels on which they recorded and then take the time to put it all into print in the form of a fanzine, or if finances allow, a fully-fledged magazine. Some of those publications failed to last beyond one issue, others longer. There have been books about the artists, the record labels and the venues. Now 'Soul In Print' fills a gap, covering the fanzines and magazines which did so much to keep the scene alive and maintain the interest which continues today (large format colour and B&W illustrated, 186 pages). The Tempests: A Carolina Soul Story (e-book/instant PDF)
The Tempests: A Carolina Soul Story - a book by E. Mark Windle. ***NOW AVAILABLE AS AN E-BOOK Order via link below*** The blurb: In the mid-1960s, North Carolina was feverishly embracing the soul explosion. From emerging local R&B acts came The Tempests, a racially integrated band which stood out from the rest. Featuring an African-American lead singer with a commanding vocal presence and talented white musicians from a range of backgrounds, their powerful soulful delivery and tight rhythm and horn sections could not be ignored. The Tempests attracted the attention of the music industry through energetic on-stage performances and quality studio work. They would soon become a booking agent’s go-to for sharing the billing with national soul stars on tour in the south east. Part heavily researched narrative and part first-hand oral history, The Tempests: A Carolina Soul Story explores how soul music took hold in the Carolinas, the origins and influences of the band, their recording period with two major labels, hectic touring schedules, and the inevitable split. But that’s only half the tale. Those early experiences shaped careers in song-writing, studio production and musicianship in popular music which continue to influence others to this day. Then there is the latter-day rediscovery of the Smash-Mercury recordings by a UK underground soul scene and formal recognition of The Tempests’ contribution to soul music following induction into the Carolina Beach Music Hall of Fame. This book continues the series in which the author presents biographies of regional artists and bands who contributed to the southern soul music phenomenon of the 1960s (ebook: 168 pages, approx. 80 colour illustrations).
