trouble is ive been to nights where people still wear stuff like that and do the backdrops etc think its time the northern "Rare soul" scene had a program to re-dress the problems to explain how people didnt stop going after the Casino shut we kept the faith if you excuse tha pun ,and are doing so now at middleton/wilton/lifeline/burnley/100 club and lotsa PROPER Nights to explain about going to find rare tunes,the people playing the class 60s n funky 70s sides now that most people DONT do back drops,wear skirts like tablecloths and look like coco the clown .............. Well said Keith, I`m sick of our scene being portrayed as a freak show. I`d love to see a show to reflect how it really is for thousands of "Normal folk" who have a passion for soul music day in day out...not just getting into fancy dress every other weekend. Its got to the point that when people say to me "You are into that northern soul aren`t you"? My reply is an embarresed "Well kind of....but not like you might think" When really i should be proud to be a follower of the best music in the world. Chris

Posted the first batch tonight...should be dropping thru your letter boxes on Thursday and Friday. I`ll be posting the more recent ones in the next few days. Please feel free to copy the CD for friends, in fact i`d encourage you all to copy the CD for a soul mate...even if you dont like it yourself! I`d appreciate your feedback too...... OK, I`m drawing a line in the sand...while i have previously been generous with people living out of tha area I`m down to the last few Cds and these are reserved for people living in places like Crewe, Nantwich, Middlewich, Leek, Macclesfield etc etc.. Sorry no more West Midlands, Derby, Lincoln etc...done enough of those already! So PM me your address if you live in these areas.... Chris

John, Is there any need for another book...I mean I didn`t think that prices had changed significantly from book 3 to 4 and now to introduce book 5...whats the point?? Of course I`ll be buying one. I need to know what these American dealers think their average record is worth before i start to try and get the record at a reasonable price! Luckily most of them realise it is just what it says on the cover a "Guide" and prices fluctuate. I`m not slagging the books off, I have used the book to my advantage learning about "new" records more times than i have been hidered by the book....but do we really need another volume? As a matter of interest, who is the new book aimed at? Chris

A real hard tune to find on a 45 (cue someone giving 10 links to ones for sale on Gemm!). I have only ever found one besides my own... If i found another I`d put £30 on it.... Chris.

Whilst travelling back from Grantham last week I heard the Marc Rapson edit of Marvins "Heard it through the grapevine" on radio 2. What a great version...really stopped me in my tracks... Does anyone have a clip if it to share or know if its going to be coming out anywhere? Cheers, Chris
