  1. Is anyone able to cast any light on which of the two is the first issue please?

    Brian

    ......

HI Brian, I always believed Soulpot to be the first version because on my Eastern copy it says "A soulpot production" or something like that...

I`m not sure if there is a difference in the cut...every version I`ve heard always sounds the same to me.

    Chris

  2. I`m not married but i have an agreement with my girlfriend that if...sorry darling WHEN we get married if anything should go wrong down the line i take all the records and she has no claim on any piece of vinyl. We will get it drawn up legally by a lawyer and both agree to its contents...sign it....stick it in the loft, forget about it and live happily ever after.......hopefully!!!

    Chris

  3. 5 Royales has gone....but I`ve got another about to drop thru my letter box at anytime....condition is not as good as the one listed so price will reflect that....although record plays great.....email me if you are interested...still a lot of people after this!

    Chris

  4. Chris will these be specific "crossover" sessions as such? Not being cynical, just searching for a bit of clarity.....i.e. are they billed as crossover sessions or will they be general mix it up non-northern sessions with Trace of Smoke, Mixed Emotions, type sounds etc ?

    ............

Hi Steve, These sessions are billed as just crossover....although i cant say records such as the ones you mentioned wont get a spin. I think its aimed more at the listening crowd being in the afternoon. looking forward to it though...should be interesting!

Speaking of rare crossover, does anyone know a record by Brotherhood "When you needed me" on Treserect records? Its a great tight group harmony dancer...listed in Johns guide at 200 i think but no-one seems to know it. I picked mine up in Detroit a few years ago....

    Hi Guys,

Well, almost back to normal, Helen bought her car this week and I got mine fixed a few weeks ago so we are both mobile again. A bit of improved security on the house and a baseball bat by the side of the bed should ensure we dont get scumbags taking what we have worked hard for again! Thanks for your messgaes of support, we were really touched by some of the mails we received. The most important thing is that its only a car and nobody was hurt.

Don't forget you can now you can pay by credit card at no extra cost. If you don't have a paypal account just go to www.paypal.com and sign up, it's really easy. This has got to be the easiest way to pay, and to make sure you get your records quicker.

I always try to grade records accurately although its impossible to play every record, that's why I offer a money back guarantee if not completely satisfied for any reason. Gradings are as follows; M-Faultless, probably unplayed, E- Very clean and a nice copy. VG - Used but plays through ok with some light noise, great for DJing with.

Please order ALL RECORDS by email, first come, first served, however if you need to call me please do so.(01283 536359) P&P is £1.30 for 1x 45 and £2.40 per LP, obviously cheaper if you buy more than one item. Please pay by cheque, cash, IMO or by using your credit card through www.paypal.com. PLEASE PAY WITHIN 7 DAYS or risk losing your reservation.IMPORTANT;WITH EVERY ORDER PLEASE INCLUDE A NOTE STATING EXACTLY WHICH RECORD YOU ARE ORDERING,THE RECORD NUMBER AND YOUR ADDRESS, FAILURE TO DO SO WILL DELAY YOUR ORDER .Please make all cheques out to C.Anderton and send to; C.Anderton, 1 Swan Court,Stapenhill Rd,Burton on trent,Staffs,DE15 9AY.

I`ve really enjoyed my spots this last month and have Dj`d at some great nights, Leicester, Sheffield and Calf heath were just awesome! Looking forward into March I will of course be spinning in the modern/70s rooms at Prestatyn, just seen the line-up this year and its going to be better than ever, hope to see some of you there. I`ll also be DJing at Belvedere club in Burton on trent on 25th March, this event is really taking off since the Bretby night, fantastic venue and the music is a blend of oldies, big tunes and 70s....always a great night. I`ll be spinning at the 3 Greyhounds in Middlewhich playing crossover/70s soul on Saturday April 1st, if you haven`t been there then you have been missing out on a top night, great intimate venue, lovely people and some of the most soulful mucic you will hear anywhere! For those not going to Prestatyn, Willington will be taking place on the 18th March....again, always busy 200 plus in everytime and a bloody good night too!

The new edition of the soul fanzine "Soul view II" is now available, it features articles by Kenny Burrell, Fraser Dunn and myself amoungst others. Its packed with news, reviews and views and can be obtained from Dave Miller at 34 Granton Mill drive,Edinburgh,EH4 4UD. The cost is a very reasonable £3.50 inc post, make cheque out to "Forthview primary school" all proceeds go to charity, actually the schools footie team and lets face it Scottish football could do with a boost, so get your cheque off without delay!!

  6. what did you want it for to read the rock articles?

    ........

So i can plan my next trip and can check out the record shows on the way mate....thats about all its good for these days....must admit i had some great results on those auctions in the early 90s though......

    Chris

  7. I just got the modern/70s room scedule for Prestatyn weekender. I must say there are some awesome crossover sessions planned....Friday night, Saturday and Sunday afternoon....if you want to know what crossover is then check out what the likes of messers Barnfather,Fenn, Rippoles etc will be spinning at these sessions.........oh yeah.......I`ll be gate-crashing the party too!

    Chris

  8. I suppose one mans crossover is another mans northern...its an over used term but to me its always meant that the record came from a period from 1969 to 1974 when musical style was changing from the more motownesque beat to a more 2-step beat......but the record is still soulful and danceable enough to get plays and be aproved of on the scene.

    Back to the thread, I suppose we are talking stuff like;

    Tony Troutman-Whats the use

    Earl White Jnr-Very special girl

    Milton Parker-Women like it harder

    Matt Brown-Thankyou baby

    etc

  9. Natural impulse has got to be there.....actual rarity is difficult to quantify, talking to some of the guys that were around the fledgling modern scene in the early days, records we consider to be rare were available at that time...

Great thread Alison.....I`ll have a think......

    Chris

  10. Its just plain old bad manners...I have records sat on my shelf I could of sold 5 times over but some guy reserved it as soon as the list went out....now he is ignoring all of my mails, if you dont want it just tell me....you cant afford it/the missus has found out/the car broke down......I`m an understanding kinda guy....just let me know.....!! I dont care how many records i sell in a month, its not putting food on my table...but some other guy probably wanted that record.........

Pete, the other one is,"I`m checking availability on the following......."

So, do you want the records or not????

I know of a dealer who just takes people off his list if they piss him about.....as a service manager I always like to see things from the customers angle.......but I lose patience with records sometimes!

    Chris

  11. Posted

Every month I get at least one time-wasting "customer" who orders a record or a pile of records, says they will send a cheque and I never hear from them again.....despite reminder emails.......if you have changed your mind I dont care, just let me know!!!

    Why do people do that.....??

    Anyone explain?

    Chris

  13. We had 9 copies for sale Ted, they are all gone apart from one which I have here, supposedly reserved for someone but I guess its still for sale if anyone wants it.Our copies came from someone involved with the record, although it took ages to seal the deal because he knew it was hard to find and wanted good money for them.

There does seem to be a couple of copies around, I`m not sure if its become more in focus since Sam, Mick H etc started playing it and people have decided to cash in. I had`nt heard the record before we found our copies but of course I was aware of it...always used to find the single sided demos. If a few have come out of the woodwork I can assure you it is still a bloody hard record!

As for not liking it, I must admit I was`nt over-keen when I first heard it but its a real grower and sounds much better load at a venue.........will be spinning it at Sheffield tonight.

That copy looked well fucked did`nt it!

    Chris

  14. Hot Bush "Say you will" on APT (I think) it books high in Manships guide, around 150 i think but in reality its a £50 record at best...and it aint that great....a bit slow and cheesey....defo not petes cup of tea!
