In light of the recent 20th Anniversary of the legendary 'Deep Funk' club sessions (FYI 27th January 1995 to 2015), I figured I'd play a set of records to celebrate some of the tunes played, from the first coupla DF nights.....which then morphed into playing some of the killer 'new music' that was played towards the end of the night's tenure. The crowd at Funky Sole in Los Angeles is excellent and varied, from older folk to breakdancers, to those that just wanna dance.....so a set that switched it up from King Midas to the likes of The Bamboos, Sharon Jones & Speedometer, worked out nicely. Mostly uptempo, and I think it was a decent snapshot of the early days of Deep Funk, to those latter day 'nu-funk' spins. TCS was Tony Carters own label, out of Philly as previously mentioned. He owned his own publishing and management company 'Tony Carter Enterprises' and kept it heavily within the family, working with other Carter's Clyde and Gwen. The label was active from around 1972 but I'm unsure as to when the label dissolved.......this was one of the first released, I think. There's a couple of LP's released on TCS that appeared 'round about 1977, so they had at least 5 years history behind them.

In that case, The Cult 'The mail must go through' on Starburst....this release had three different covers with the second sleeve having a color variant. The first cover; The second cover, with both color variants;

Mom's Apple Pie released this LP on Brown Bag records in 1972, including a very credible version of 'I just want to make love to you'......first up is the banned cover, second image is what they used to replace it. Not too difficult to see why the first was banned.

There's been some PM'd interest on this title but no solid buy as yet.....I priced this with no other guideline to go against, except the knowledge of how rare this is and how it impacts the right dancefloor.
