  1. Have you seen Detroit?

It is currently on Sky movies, and is a dramatisation of a true story and features at it's centre the Dramatics of Inky Dinky and All Because of you Fame. It is a bit of a tough watch at times because of the racial violence, but well worth watching for the story and the music.

A few likes, but very few wiling to put their toe in the water... lol

Maybe we should keep this thread on ice till the interview comes out, then you can have your say. I would state though, for allot of us on here, Simon Soussan is just a name from the 7ts, I'm too young to have dealt with, or met him, but I know allot of you older guys did..

Christ sake I'm 55 and there are older guys!

Older? I am 66 and there are loads that are older than me. I was 15 when I first went to Wigan and me and my mates were among the youngest there!

  3. I agree, everyone slags it off for always achieveing stupidly high prices but the reality is that if a record is going through a researgence at the clubs it always goes for daft money. 5-6 years ago I sent JM a copy of Milton Wright I belong to You. I bought it for £45 5 years earlier but it became massive at the time and he sold it for £985 which to was nuts because I didn't even like the record. Also it depends on who is bidding just look at the 2 copies of the Tomangoes that sold recently, a VG+ ish copy on Tim Brown for £9k and Ex++ on JM for about £3k. Personally I still prefer auctions to set sales because you get the chance to offer what the record is worth to you at that time and don't lose out because you were either not online at the time or haven't figured out the sneaky ways to get a preview of what is for sale before the emails come out.

Phil, you're dead right but why lump Al Wilsons "The Snake" in with Footsie. There's nowt wrong with the Snake. IMO  The Seeds would have been a better choice.😆

Absolutely agree! UMT was a big record in the soul/Mod clubs back in the days before the term Northern Soul had been coined. Most of the people who deride these records, never heard them in the in the day and just slag them off which is total hypocrisy, except for Barnaby Bye, which is, was and will forever be absolute shite.

  5. I didn't know Ted persoanlly but we chated online and over email because he was working for a company that supplied equipement to the same industry as me. Despite still being an avid rcord collector I have been away from the scene for donkeys years and no idea untll a cople of years ago what a ledgend he was, smashing down to earth bloke and a sad very loss.

QUOTE .."Sorry but anything containing those bloody awful synth 'pew-pews' has no place at an all-niter ..."

........ you omitted to finish your post by adding IN MY OPINION ...

Another vote for no pew-pews at an all niter or in fact in any records.....IMHO. Reminds me of when my little sister bought a copy of Anita Ward-Ring my Bell it f'kin drove me mad for moths, she would play it over and and over again,

I'm complaining here because I haven't received any communication from John Manship, and I've actually paid a lot of money for records without even knowing if they're available, since he apparently prefers to fulfill Discogs orders over website orders. It wouldn't bother me to wait if I could be sure I'd get what I paid for. I actually feel foolish because I ordered through his website instead of Discogs, as I was stupidly trying to save him the Discogs fees. In the end, I probably got the short end of the stick because I meant well by John.

How shall I call him if I don't feel my english is good enough for a talk?

Hi I waited around 3 weeks for mine to arrive, I did chase them by email several times because they do not always answer. Persona;;y I think that they were taken by surprise by the number of orders that they got and are struggling to cope. Drop them an email and I am sure that they will reply.

  9. Just when I thought that record prices were off their peak we see Chapter V go for almost £2k, £1k for a UK demo of Frankie & Johnny on Manship and now £1600 for Eddie Foster and £1100 for James Fountain. I think that I need to revalue my collection and check the home insurance!

  10. Those of us who are old enough and probably ugly enough will remember when all of these were just regular choons. Personally I love all 3 or 4 and used to really enjoy hearing and dancing to them as part of the night, rather than just as the enders. Just my oppinion.

  11. I know that Joe Dunlop sold a copy very recently for around £1000, it is a rare UK record and has much better sound quality than the US copies and is prized by collectors of British labels and demos. Personally I think that £800-1000 is the right price range so whoever bought that one got a bargain and the seller is probably very disappointed because he will only get £545.60
