Hi Mike
if you didnt know already the 12" masterful version is on spirit of philadelphia volume 2 cd out now on expansion
i wouldnt bother with the seven as it it is a bad edit
the 12" took me 16 years to track down
hope that helps cheers sean
I've got the 7" columbia promo, wouldn't say it was a bad edit, any truth in the story the lead singer is evelyn king?

took me ages to get this one, more commonly seen with the other not so rare flip. Sid Jones had a copy dunno if it's gone or if Sid's left for sunnier shores yet?
got one off col kidson at king's hall earlier this year,I was so pleased didn't even try to bargain him down, think it was £40,had two copies with t'other B side couldn't shift 'em then sold both copies within two nights

yes seem to remember miranda being not best pleased at having to drive over to wigan with the breakdown card that someone...........coughA few weeks ago Mick Howard and I picked up our guns and wandered over into Salford to see that Wigan Casino exhibition at the Peel museum. We'd gone up to sunny Wigan last year or so to see the much smaller version and was curious to see what had improved. Oh that Wigan trip was a great day my car broke down next to the Pier just as Wigan Ath were at home to Leeds U. Got towed home and landed with a thousand pound repair bill. I kicked off and got it reduced to only £450 but thats another story.....Anyway on entering t'Salford gallery I heard the strains of the rather wonderful "Another dirty deal" eching around the room. What a wonderful melodic dancer - I love it - but was it ever played at Wigan? I don't want to get into a "yes it was Sat 31st July 1976 at 1.32am I was there" type discussion and I'm not being a nit picker either like "why did they play it in the gallery if it never got played at Wigan blah blah".
Suppose I'm just curious and wanted an excuse to talk about a record I like.
derek
Its the flip side to "There's nothing else to say" on Audio Arts for those that don't know it.
left back in sunny reddish, much more civilised day out at salford, some great anecdotes left in the guest book wasn't there and dave withers on the original footage looking very youthful and sounding very eloquent,if you've not been to the salford exhibition it's worth a look

Hi Mark, yeah got "why would you blow it"then round at Derek Pearson's one night 'ere Mick you might like this one, yeah not bad lol, booked at £25,should pick one up pretty easy, they are out there, just waiting for someone to offer me one for sale,eh Mark..........Another Friday night and i find myself upstairs again messing about with the bootlegs...lol I would just like to add this one in the mix here as i think this very much underplayed record is about to explode on the Northern scene............Claude "Baby" Huey - Drifting -M.I.O.B. 1283 - Part of the Fantasy/Galaxy set up this Ozz Osborne song and production is simply so right for the current scene, perfect pace, crunching vocal from a man who has supplied the scene with a handful of beautiful records including another superb release from M.I.O.B. 1281 - 'Keep It To Myself' which is also worthy of a play or two at the gigs, the ultra cool R'n'B style cut for Early Bird 49654 - 'Feel Good All Over' and the superb Galaxy release 'Why Would You Blow It' - Galaxy 768 which of course has been a pretty big record on the scene in recent years played by the likes of Bob Hinsley, Ginger Taylor, myself from time to time and others.
All these records have been pretty popular with collectors over the years but 'Drifting' stands out possibly to be the one that has been somewhat overlooked until now, you were able to pick this one up a few years ago for just a few pounds but i would instantly value this at an easy £100.00 plus record as copies seem to be hard to locate, just ask my good friend Mick Howard and he will confirm this, with a few more plays this semi known oldie will catch on proving that the M.I.O.B. had it so right.....Music Is Our Business oh and ours because this is an awesome record which i'm sure many of you on here will confirm.
Regards - Mark Bicknell.
.thanks for the mention on the radio, see you've got a copy of the heartbreakers now

sounds bang on alan, haven't really kept any memorabilia but do remember edwin starr inviting some of the dancers on stage just to watch them spin, remember being disapointed with jackie wilson's appearance and walking off up to M's but as we later found out he was really ill at the time, that was '75 wasn't it?Mick, the first Edwin Starr show I saw at Wigan was October 74, I think, not long after 1st Anniversary. Always a great performer, plus the usual 2 extra hours when a live act was on. Happy days!!!!I was at the Betty Wright night aswell, although didnt really watch the show as we'd already seen her midweek at Reading Top Rank, a great show though.
Alan.

hi paul ,it was april 26th 1975,great night it was too. good luck with the show, craig
without doubt the best live act to have appeared there absolutely blew me away, what made it even more astounding was the show was nearly cancelled because she had such a severe throat infection she could hardly talk on the day of the gig, somebody should bring her back over to appear at one of the weekenders, did anyone go to one of edwin starrs early appearances at the casino, possibly '74,had a really funky backing band called TCB later went on to fame and fortune as rose royce

Trying to date the collection it includes records that were big on the scene in the post Wheel era, and include a lot of records that were pre-Wigan. If you get my drift. I am taking a wild guess here. But did you go to clubs like 'Rowntree's Sounds', along the road from Ralphs in Manchester Victoria. Or 'Motown' in Shaw near Oldham. Or even the 'Seven Stars' in Heywood.
Many of them are original and the boots were readily available in Ralphs.
I used to go to the seven stars in heywood, heard many of the big sounds of that time circa72/73 courtesy of some of the older lads who used to go to the pendulum and vava's remember hearing sandi sheldon, just brothers and many more all mixed in with the pop stuff of that time, groundbreaking stuff eh the first across the board night out lol, agree with the list used to see these every week in both ralph's shops in manchester and soul galore in the oasis market, happy days

april foolIf you were at either the last Lifeloones or Middletown 'nighters you will have heard the buzz after MC Putch had spun a true hunk of vinyl he called "Fried Chicken" by Colin Sanders on Kentucky.... Well I have one for sale and I am giving Soul Sourcers first chance but only 'til mid-day....after that it's off to EBay.This is a Putch cover up (C/U).....the real identity of this record is (as upfront Kenny knows) is a remix of OOTF and Do I love You and played insideout.
