  1. Not for the tenner you were offering on Modculture....

Looks like the only way I'm going to get this is to go the grammy awards (in joke). Anyway, do you have a copy for sale or what?

  2. Bloody hell just read this. Lee if you can read this Karen and I wish you a very, very speedy recovery.

For those that don't him - he's not only got one the best record collections in the UK he's also a mine of soul information and trivia. A dj's dj who sets the standards for others to follow. And to cap it all off he's a great bloke as well.

    Get well soon, mate

  3. I had two of these and sold the spare one last year. Funny thing is I had the spare copy for sale on here and in my sales box for about 3-4 months and not a snifter of interest. Even offered it to Manship for £150 and turned it down saying, and in his own words, 'Nobody will pay £150 for a Harvey Averne record'.

    Great, great record.

BTW, what's the going rate on the Tony Middleton 'Return to Spanish Harlem' - was offered one recently but turned it down on the grounds that I have a mortgage to pay. :sleep3::yes:

  4. Will somebody be so kind and and give me a realistic price for this 45?

Also any information about the known number of copies would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Gerd

Well, if you ask Simon B it'd be £50 :wicked::lol: but to anyone else probably £600-700. People have stated that this used to be a common record but probably only turns up 1-2 times a year on ebay. So is it rare or just scarce - take your pick

Sorry Simon - couldn't resist that one.

    Cheers

  6. Warren,

If you are patient and avoid buying from the UK (except from absolutely reputable gentlemen like John Manship or Pete Smith),

you'll likely get one at your price.

Not only that but chances are it will be described and graded correctly according to the US Goldmine system (NO "ex" grades at all & NO "++" grades !) , not the UK Record Collector system.

Also unlikely to have cue burn or done the rounds of the northern circuit.

    Happy hunting.

    Oooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! :thumbup::lol::D

  7. .....£142.38, half a dozen fresh oatcakes and a signed photo of Johnny Beggs playing the bongos

Final offer. £144.69 a roll-topped herring, a bag of elvers and ...........and a photo of Hoss sober (now that's rare). He would have signed it but he tried to drink the ink.

Now Mace, if you reply to this one - you really are childish

  8. I'll ask him, but I doubt if he can remember what he did last friday, never mind what he played over 4 weeks ago mate...he is getting on a bit nowadays

Only £130 for 'Return to Spanish Harlem'

    Cheapskate...I'll pay £135..... :lol::ohmy:

    ....i'll go £139 plus a fish supper

  9. Indeedy...and El Beggsy will be doing more of the same at Bidds Allnighter on December 22nd (well if Warrens gonna plug I might as well join in.. :g: )

Not a problem, mate. They do say that plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery  . Actually I'm going to hijack this again coz I'm looking for a copy of Tony Middleton's 'Return to Spanish Harlem'. Will go to £130ish for a mint copy. Anyone?

By the way Mace any of Beggsy's playlists on soul source?

  10. Blatant plug time, but if you're into Latin soul and Boogaloo and you're in London on Thursday I'm guesting at The Social where I'll be playing a full Latin set including most of the tunes listed above. Mark Raisin is the other guest so should be a stonkin' night.

    See ya there

    Warren

Thursday November 8th @ The Social,

5 Little Portland St, London W1.

Nearest Tube Oxford Circus (2/3 mins)

  11. Without any disrespect to the other great djs at Yate I'd have to say the Clarkie was the Yate allnighter. Always had loads of new discoveries, had great taste in music - which is the mark of a great dj. Searling was Wigan Casino and the only dj to match him at the time, was Clarkie. He was actually one of the live acts I wanted to see at the Kent anniversary.

Can't make the Yate anniversary as I'm running my night on Dec 1st but I'd seriously consider missing my own night to make it if he was playing.

Can't say much more. Come back Clarkie - WE MISS YOU.

  12. Wish you had kept to your word Warren and run the auction as you stated  cause i know you sold one record last night at the price i had offered earlier in the week and below the price i increased my bid to this morning

Ted, your right. Both top offers were of the same value and I didn't think either would be increased so I admit I got greedy and sold it to the one offered first. Means that I got less than I would have if I had waited. Kicking myself so apologies given.

    Warren

  13. Cancel my offfer Warren, I'd rather know what the condition is on a record before I bid. shame Pat Lewis is n't mint any more :D

    good luck though mate...

It's in the same condition as when you sold it to me but I wouldn't have called it mint when I bought it off you - just shows how good my gradings are laugh.gif .

Will be closing the offers at 12 midday tomorrow. I've had quite a few pms asking what particular records are going for but I'm not interested in playing bidders against each other so would advise that if you want a record that you place a bid. As I said earlier I'll offer a sound file to all winning bidders so you can hear before you buy.

    Cheers
