  1. I have done this in the past. Record both sides first unless you have the tracks elsewhere Take the record out of the (album or 45) sleeve and cover with something to protect the grooves on both sides (tissue paper, kitchen roll etc). Place on a flat surface that gets intermittent warmth but not direct heat. (My old TV used to be ideal cos it would get warm but not hot). Cover with something reasonably heavy like plate glass, books, etc which you aint gonna use for some time. Then forget about it for a few months. The intermittent warmth seems to work but it takes a while.
  2. Has there been any progress with this book?
  3. Thank you Mark My friend lives in the States and I gave him that website but I think he wants the ones already sold out too. I'll be checking with him later to let me know what he wants. Thanks for the other responses. Soul people are very caring about the music
  4. Carl I showed this guy one of mine some time ago and he's just decided he ought to have bought it. Better late than never, I guess. Hopefully the ladies are coming back again to sing for us..........we can use that as our excuse to catch up!
  5. I have been asked to find back issues of the magazine "There's That Beat". I have seen them for sale at soul venues but I don't know the names of the sellers. Anyone able to offer suggestions? Many thanks
  6. Can I refer you to this link. https://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageTravel_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000014&propertyType=document Read 2.3.....and then 2.4. If the parcel TOTAL is under £40 (and that means - not individual items) , I ask the seller to dispense with anything suggesting I bought it and to replace it with a post it note which says...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It used to be £32. It's worth mentioning that if you buy a second hand song sheet, it is not liable to duties/ vat, but the VAT people might still charge and it's a devil to get it back. Now, I ask the seller to write to he "commodity code" on the declaration. You can see these commodity codes on the Revenue website.
  7. I booked my seat in row H (£35). This is when the seats begin to tier so when you guys stand up, I will have that extra height.
  8. Did anyone go to a place in North London, near Caledonian Road. It was called Vintage Record Centre I was real happy to find it, so I went in, waited until the guy was free and asked if there was any Motown. He just turned away and ignored me. The guy in Cheapo Cheap was another guy with attitude but he was more vocal to customers and just obnoxious. He calmed down over the years....and was actually quite friendly to me once. There's a Northampton based record dealer who used to put on Motown acts that still owes me £400+ . He still sellsl records so I aint mentionig his name and giving him any publicity.
  9. I have a letter from Tom but it isn't the one referred to above. It was sent when Tom had left Motown and joined Airwave. Tom is clearly very angry about many things whilst he was at Motown and he was shouting off about them but then we all have had axes to grind. What is clear from the letter was that Tom was confused - as in....this man was not well.
